When Ph3 in 2009???

My comment about the xmas delays was supposed to be tongue in cheek guess that got lost in translation. Winder back off with the name calling, I bet you wouldn't be so quick to talk like that to my face so don't do it here. Finally it was my understanding that the pre-order list was eaten when the servers crashed awhile back. As for not posting a release date I thought the program had gone gold and all that was left was to burn the CD/DVDs.

If you make a mockery of us by saying we lost all the pre-orders you infer that we are idiots so I return the favour and yes I would do it to your face.
Besides I have posted so many times that we have the list safe and sound so I think you should back off and read before typing.

In the same way I defend ourselves when we are told that OFF blows up motherboards and or we are Tax evading - I treat these statements seriously and always will.

Guys every day we read posts of people assuming things and or making false statements and we try to post the status as clearly and as often as we can - we are a small organisation and SOH is our only real forum of presence so try not to bite the hand that feeds you.

If these posts do not affect the image of what we are trying to do and or our integrity we simply let it go....if it does and the poster is being obtuse well we will be as blunt as the poster - yes even if he/she may be joking as others may not perceive it as so.

And so it goes.

EEEEK............this is a monumental effort spanning YEARS!!!......can't believe anticipation would lead to acrimony........give it a rest you doubters........we'll all have BHAH when we do.......and it'll be worth the price..or wait......no matter when it comes.......and OFF team........you should be flattered that there is a line outside the stadium for tickets! Good on ya! GAW

Perhaps, this thread should be closed now.
Everything is said to it, and the thread title question cannot be answered exactly; so why have a thread, were unpatient people might write something quicktempered, that hurts others, and that they later might even regret, but then it was already posted. :argue:

The main points seem to be:

- the OFF devs are a team of enthusiasts, who created the first two Phases mainly for having a WW1 air combat sim at all. Most of the users today have NOT bought the game, or even donated (me included, I admit here frankly).

- As the OFF Team didn't get rich with it, they are not MICROSOFT or anywere near that status. From "Bill's boys", you could expect a release date, and I know from own experience with big companies, how much pressure is put on everyone involved under such circumstances; very unpleasant altogether, but there, it's Big Business.

- OFF Team make the experience - giving production of the DVD's into the hands of another company - for the FIRST time. And I know, what producers promise first, and don't keep later, sometimes.

And a last personal view point: Honestly - I would get pretty upset about some of the negative mourning and complaining about something, that no one can change for the moment, and all the demanding for something, no one has yet paid a single penny for. No date was promised or even announced.
So, can't we just STOP here and just wait a little longer :fish2:, peacefully?

Ah, and for the smileys again: :amen:

Hi Olham,

TOTALLY Agree with what you've said, :applause:

I'm a relative newcomer to the forum, but i can understand the impatience that others who have waited far far longer than me for P3 to arrive.

The OFF gang have done an outstanding job on this project to put it mildly, & they must be as frustrated as us for it not to have been released yet,

but its out of their hands - We'll all just have to wait :jump::jump::jump:

Right.....and that may be why Mickeysoft is notorious for releasing unfinished software to an unsuspecting public who are then inevitably faced with being used as unwilling beta-testers while waiting for a slow, agonizing avalanche of security and functionality related critical updates and patches which from my experience, seem to go on forever.

Perhaps we should all be thankful that the OFF team refused to cave in to the pressure to release an incomplete, unpolished and inferior final version of (as Gaw so succinctly put it) "a monumental effort spanning YEARS!!!". Instead, they chose to stick to their Vickers and release as finely tuned a product as their collective talent and endurance would allow for. Not just for their own satisfaction, but for OURS as well. Peculiar how some can be so myopic as to completely lose sight of that minor detail.

I for one have been quite content to wait until I receive notice that BHAH is ready to order, and I've been here a long time. As for those who don't seem so comfortable with a tiny delay due to distribution complications, all I can say is......nah.....nevermind.

Cheers,

Parky

Thanks, Olham54, Parky, and others.
For those of you who are restless and starting to feel cranky, don't feel bad.. I'm one of the original team members and I haven't even received a disk yet. But I'm sitting here patiently because I know that everything is being done to get BHH out as soon as possible, and I know how much work has gone into this project so far, gratis.
So, lets all be patient and enjoy the forum.. maybe come up with some ideas that might go into future versions? :typing:

Engine animation (movement of rockers and such) on the planes with exposed engines and gun action animations. They're both framerate eaters I know but it would still be cool.

Some people here are just too impatient. This team has made an AMAZING project in which they have been working for 4 years. The long-expected P3 is days away from your hands and you act like spoiled little children. Do not bite the hand that feeds you. Of course there was gonna be a delay as there are people involved who have families, regular jobs etc. etc. And you know what? I dont think there is another big add-on (let alone a game itself!) forum in which the program's developers are present every day, answering all types of questions, helping players and ACTUALLY LISTENING to you making suggestions about the game. (throw a suggestion to an EA developer via e-mail or something....ok then! Why not go talk to a brick wall? You'll get more responses for sure!) So its not pleasant to be working for years on a project and staying awake till the early morning, writing a god damned game code for hours, texturing, skinning and 3D modelling and then having some people moaning and whining about like 2 weeks of delay! Let the guys be.
And great post Olham :applause:

ok, some ideas for future versions. that's only fun so don't take it too serious. does anyone remember old amiga WW1 game "wings". the best thing was the time off the action. the diary, the stories and so on. on those times i really loved the game because it showed the life in a squadron with all its problems and funny things. so in a future version how about a combination of OFF and SIMS. when you land you have to live your live outside the cockpit with your squadronmates. you have to eat, to sleep, go to toilet, you can celebtrate an sing and drink at nights in the mess, you can go to the near villages and towns and have some live and meet some dames. go to the funerals of your mates. stuff like this. maybe for OFF/SIMS phase 23 :friday:

PARDON ME but I thought OFF was a flight simulation, not a role player, when you have mechanical trouble and are forced down over enemy territory, that pilot must removed from the list of active flyers, Next.
He might have assaulted the enemy army, with his service revolver, he might have been shot, he might have been captured, and he'll cool his heels behind barbed wire. Frankly: I don't care, my role playing is over as soon as I landed in one piece, NEXT :monkies:
