Wings of Power Collection

I hope his supply holds out for 4 more days....if so, I'm grabbing one of those boxes as well.

My copy arrived yesterday, spent all evening installing and test flying them. Very nice.

Thanks OleBoy for the HU and link. What a great deal, less than $8(US) for the whole set.

Now I'm trawling for repaints, already found a bunch for the Superfort.

If you don't have this set better get 'em while they're hot.

Same here got mine yesterday and already installed and started to enjoy the aircraft in both FS2004 and CFS3. Thanks for the tip.

Bought one of these years ago and installed every repaint I could find for every one of the aircraft. It's well worth whatever price you pay for it. The folks who put this set together have shown how it's possible to market something that requires the absolute minimum of tweaking to make it work right - if you want to tweak it at all. I haven't, and am well satisfied with it right out of the box. After a disappointing experience just earlier today with another firm's product it's nice to remember things like this can still be had.

Could someone post some screen shots of the B-24 and Privateer VCs? Those are the planes that I am most interested in (already have the WOP B-17s).

Here ya go. The first one is the pb4y.

As I posted earlier I was able to load both the CFS3 and FS2004 version. With the FS2004 version I ran into a problem, I was unable to install it to my Golden Wings install. It installed with no problems for my basic F2004, but no luck trying to get it installed with FSGW3. Did anyone else have the same problem and was able to work around the issue?

SGT T,

1. Add a suffix to your root FS 9 folder, something like "Flight Simulator 9-Original" and then install a new folder in Microsoftgames with the "Flight Simulator 9" moniker.

2. Some programs like to see the FS9 start icon, so copy and paste it into the shell folder

3. Run your Wings of Power program and it should deposit everything into the shell folder in the folder higherarchy. Ie. Aircraft, Gauges, etc.

4. Cut and paste these into your real FS9 folder or Golden Wings folder. Delete the shell and then drop whatever suffix you added to the original FS 9 folder

5. Run FS 9 or Golden Wings from your shortcut and you should see your new WOP airplanes and they should be operational

I install all my addons that use a self-installer this way. It seems to save a lot of grief down the road and I can also see exactly what it is I'm installing. This is particularly important in my Addon Scenery folder as I have it organized a bit differently than what many of the scenery addons want to do.

Uninstall WOP from your FS2004 file.
Rename your FS2004 file to something like OriginalFS2004, including the FS9.exe, FS9original.exe for example.
Rename GW3 installation to FS2004, rename the GW3.exe to fs9.exe and the WOP installer should dump into your renamed GE3 files.
The you get to return everything to their previous incarnations.
PIA.
The other option is to copy all the WOP files, including gauges, effects and textures from the FS2004 installation across to your GW3 installation.
WOP only recognises a 'Valid FS9' installation, so if you are using one 'those' patches that we don't discuss it will refuse to go there as well.

The best solution is to set up your clean FS2004 installation first, let WOP install there and run the GW3 setup after the WOP routine has done it's thing.

I keep a complete 'original' clean FS2004 installation on a backup HD, it can be copied across and then tweaked if needed.
IIRC none of the Shockwave/A2A productions recognise any form of FS2004 that is Kosher.
:kilroy:

I just copied the files from my FS9 into GW3.

The files were easy to find (if I got them all). The 'effects' were all prefaced with 'fx_wop_', the gauge cabs all have names that are easy to find: ar234, b17, b24, etc. The Lancaster cab is called 'wop_lanc'.

The only thing I found in the texture folder was a bitmap called 'wop_glass'. In the Flights folder is a folder called 'Wings of Power'. Didn't find anything in the sound folder that looked like it was attached to them.

I think I got everything, all the planes seem to work fine, they've got gauges, textures, reflective glass.

BTW I hate auto-installers, especially those that don't let you redirect them.
