Wouldn't it be nice if.....

Now I know what the Red Flag comment was all about. These things *are* fun to fly at treetop height!

Not much of a bomb truck though. I barely got off the ground with an adequate load for SEAD (2 clusters, 2 rocket pods, drop tank, 1 Magic and 1 ECM pod). And defense against two iraqi F-7s consisted of running away to an adquate separation, turning, firing off the single Magic (it didn't hit) and then running home for good.
(Battle damage was from a 12.7mm AA emplacement.)

Heck yeah we need a Jaguar. This project smells like a M2M one waiting to happen :)

Or Justflight, who knows, maybe after the Tornado? I once watched a Jaguar land at RAF Lossimouth (they'd put the catch netting up & and it was as I recall the "saint" display aircraft) and the pilot climbed out while the aircraft was just off the runway and kicked it!

I was thinking the same as Ian, a Just Flight Jag from the excellent team behind the Canberra and Tornado would be brilliant. Still have happy memories from the visits to RAF Coltishall and later to RAF Coningsby after 6 Sqn relocated there. In 2007, the last Jags were sent to RAF Cosford and in preparation they practiced short field landings, pulling the dragchute while still airborne! This is XX835/EX, RAF Coningsby May 16th 2007:

The Jaguar never did get the recognition it deserved.
Even the French ones were eclipsed by the Mirage F1.

Jaguar

You can blame Dassault for that, of course. More profit for them in pushing their own designs rather splitting the proceeds with BAC; that is the main reason Jaguar Marine died, because Dassault could offer the Super Etendard at a much lower price than Jaguar M - Jaguar M may have been a more capable aircraft, and it had two engines (which the Aeronavale were very keen on), but they could buy more from Dassault.

Re. the VC thing. Would Piglet's Mitsubishi F-1/T-2 VC not be a good substitute, for the early Jags at least? It is a very similar aircraft and uses the same engines, so seems sensible to me, but I'm not accustomed to your black arts on the Dark Side.

Over Vegas, out of Nellis.

"Black Arts"? Us?

I did try it with the F1 VC, but I think Dino's F14 feels better. Just don't look at the wing sweep controls!:biggrin-new:

Yup, that would work. Good catch; totally forgot about the F-1/T-2!

Can anyone point me to the UKMIL Jaguar without VC please?
More importantly, can anyone with Virtavia connections tell them that they should restart theirs?? :jump:

Doesn't cost anything to register at the UKMil site. You still get access to most downloads, including the Jaguar, Tornado & Bucc. Club membership does cost (£9.99) and gets you access to members only files.

I've tried.. You'll need to ask Santa! Not much hope otherwise.
