Wouldn't it be nice if.....

Thanks for raising the profile of the Jaguar Dave.
I've long thought that we need an FSX Jag and a couple of people responding to this thread have suggested that Just-Flight are the people to deliver it. I entirely agree with them. Their Canberra is awesome and their Tornado looks as if it's going to be just as good, judging by the breathtaking progress shots they've shown us. A Jaguar would be the icing on the cake for me.

Anyone have the idea viewpoint coords dialed for the Piglet T-2 VC? I'm going to port in that VC into this bird tonight ...

thanks,

dl

I find I always have to adjust the donor VC point some to correspond/not conflict with the recipient model.

I can do it - just figured most (except for Dave, who went with the F-14) had done the T2, and would have already made the adjustments. Need a break from 50s scenery research that has proven a bit fruitless ... :banghead:

I'll post mine tonight, if no one else does beforehand.

cheers,

dl

I was thinking the same as Ian, a Just Flight Jag from the excellent team behind the Canberra and Tornado would be brilliant. Still have happy memories from the visits to RAF Coltishall and later to RAF Coningsby after 6 Sqn relocated there. In 2007, the last Jags were sent to RAF Cosford and in preparation they practiced short field landings, pulling the dragchute while still airborne! This is XX835/EX, RAF Coningsby May 16th 2007:

Normally I delete the photos/screens but this is page 2 AND I love these photos :adoration:

I am stumped here.

Ported the T-2 VC over, and I get a big black polygon along the front nose of the a/c, like a giant glareshield. Anyone else get this? I'm thinking that VC conflicts with the main .mdl, in that a polygon protrudes beyond the surface of the Jag's nose.

As promised though, the viewpoint I used came up with was as follows:

[Views]
eyepoint=17.5, 0.00, 1.6

There are a few funky polygons on the fuel tanks, and around the gunports - but all in all, if the T-2 VC could be put in (and it's a nice VC, btw) it'd be a very enjoyable model.

Any ideas are much appreciated.

That black poly sounds very much like it's possibly the placeholder for the panel. I've run into it before and was told that short of re-coding the mdl file there's little that can be done to remove it. I'm another that always thought the Jag was a nice looking aircraft. . .it was the Alphasim versions I flew last and really enjoyed them.

Just dug the UKMIL Jag out and remembered why it's only been flown a couple of times. The model doesn't look too bad but it's still very much a beta..

Thanks for popping in here Dave, and a great shot, btw!

Funny, your shot shows no vertical ridge line along the longitudinal axis of the tanks - wonder if its my pc, or the 2-seater doesn't have it. I only played with the GR1/3, so maybe that's it.

Now Falcon, are you saying I should have kept the original 2D panel bmps? I find the whole VC migration thing a bit confusing - I'm probably doing it wrong.

Also find the AB/reheat is always on when the lights are selected - I'm guessing the event toggling is buggered by changing over the VC gauges ... :pop4:

So close ... yet so far ...

dl

The Alphasim Jags do port reasonably well, as does a certain Mirage F1 - but, as they say:

"Close, but no cylindrical smoking thing....."

A TacPack'd Mirage F1 wouldn't be a bad thing, either.
