Yorktown Class Carriers in WWII

TF 17 R. Adm. Frank Jack Fletcher aboard flagship USS Yorktown after hasty repairs at Pear Harbour, along with the rest of TF 17, steaming SW to link up with Adm. Spruance aboard USS Enterprise with USS Hornet and TF 16 somewhere NE of Midway, Is.

In view are USS Yorktown (CV-5) , cruiser USS Astoria (CA-34), and destroyers USS Hammann (DD-412), USS Anderson (DD-411), USS Morris (DD-417), and USS Russell (DD-413).

Not in view to starboard and aft is the cruiser USS Portland (CA-33) and destroyer USS HUGHES (DD-410).

Unfortunately I couldn't find any DD's of the propper class to use. All 5 in the TF at this point were Simms class.

Very cool, where did you find our simms class destroyers and the cruisers you are using?

Steve are you looking for this. "DD-409 USS Sims" I have it but not in sim yet.

Also did a quick paint for an Enterprise F6F from VF-20. That is the CL-144 USS Worcester in the back ground.
I have her cruising with Big E for aa support.

Thanks Joe. Actually the DDs in my screen shot are all Fletchers. I couldn’t find any Simms or any single stack DDs. The cruisers are from Yanco’s Midway group.

Joe, that Simms looks GREAT and it is definitely required for Midway. 5 out of 6 of the screen destroyers for Yorktown were Simms class. The visual models of Klaus’ CVs and your Simms are outstanding. Thank y’all very much.

Steve

I have many of Yanco’s ships and they are very good, but you compare them to Klaus's new ones and quality wise they are just not up to the same standard.

Looking back on the body of work Klaus has created, the only significant USN ww2 carrier missing is Wasp (CV-7)

Butcherbird17, those sims and Worcester models look great, hopefully it won't take too much work to convert them to FSX and release them.

Did convertions to fsx for a little package with WWII US destroyers ready for upload. Will come till this weekend.

USS DD-354 Monaghan,

Hope you will have fun with these ships.

Klaus, you are The Man! You are bringing a whole lot of enjoyment to a whole lot of simmers. Thank you.

Hi Klaus,

I fully agree with Steve/Duckie - you are really one of the chief engineers for virtual, entertaining carriers and escorts :applause:.

a big "Thank you" again.

Klaus,
Adding my thanks for all of these.
Any chance you might consider Forrestal class (Forrestal, Saratoga, Ranger, Independence) ?
Kind regards,
Deke

For the near future i`ve not planed to do those ships.... but i think CIMOGT would be the right one to place this question. As i can see, he is doing all the new carriers.

But one thing that will come in nearest future ....... the Victory ships in different outfits.

Will do some other variants too. Perhaps they will come together with the destroyers this weekend.

Cruisers

Hi Klaus,Please let me add my thanks for the absolutely superb carriers and battleships that you have done (as well as for the forthcoming destroyers). I understand your interest in the Victory Ships as well. Is there any way you could be persuaded to do some heavy and / or light cruisers? If we had a set of cruisers we could put ANY combination of needed ships into a formation. Besides that, there were some really beautiful cruisers made. Best regards, Bill

It’s me or is there a scale issue going on? The carrier looks small compared to her screening vessels.

Nearly ready to upload a package of cruisers. Indeanapolis, Baltimore, Des-Moines, Omaha, Albany, Helena, Atlanta, Cleveland, Flint, Worcster.. Planed for this weekend.

greetings
Klaus
