Sakishima-Gunto is now released!

I hope this picture gives you an idea. You'll see more about what I'm talking about when you takeoff. The altitude is 55.61 feet. :encouragement:

While I have you MaskRider I have discovered one more abnormality when I want to free flight takeoff from SG Ishigaki.

M.R., YOU DID IT AGAIN!!!!!

Many, many thanks for setting the standard about how CFS2 sceneries could be. A few years ago your first works inspired everybody who wanted a little bit more than the stock looks, and, more than anything else, you showed us what could be done with CFS2! One heck of a trailblazing!

THANK YOU!

I've still got those green rectangles

Hi kwb737 & MR,

KWB737, Check if you have the old Ishigaki from 10 years ago installed. It's not GSL, so the trees are a permanent feature. There's also an old version of Yonaguni and a rendition of Miyako by another author which need deleting.

Chris, The scenery is wonderful but I can't get rid of those green rectangles. As well as the ones previously mentioned, I have two more further north on Ishigaki as well as a few scattered amongst the other islands. They are all located on the coast and coincide with harbour scenery. All the airfields show up perfectly.

I downloaded your revised package with the missing sand texture. I've got the textures triplicated in the main TEXTURE folder, the SCENEDB/World folder and the Sakishima-Gunto folder, all to no avail.

I've tried changing the layer order, deactivating other scenery layers such as Rhumba's new water masking, his old water files, his old coastal flattens, etc. Still no joy.

I've had a look at your bgl files with a hex editor to see if I was missing any other textures but can't see any.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi kdriver,

It will work.
If I may be so bold to say...put your install back to the way it was before adding the scenery. Delete all filelist dat files.
Then just wait for MR to release the updated files.

There's several items he'll get together, then we'll all be on the same page.
The original install instructions will guide us perfectly (yeah, now I read it) once all the updating is done. :friendly_wink:

There were quite a number that were not included in my texture folder. But don't seem to be causing any problems- that I have heard of at any rate. Guess they must be standard issue CFS2 textures present in all configurations. I am wondering if maybe I ought to go ahead and include them anyway, just to be on the safe side. The shore textures I am not worried about. Those are standard issue.

Well Mask, that's how I've got it now. Figured it's a fail safe method as you mentioned. Also have them in the root texture folder. Not the "wa" airstrip bmp's
Only the others that were missing along with the packaged originals.

Hi kwb737,

Thanks very much for posting the screen shots.

What you have there is a scenery conflict. An old version and the new version of Hateruma and Ishigaki are trying to share the same patch of ground.

Make sure you have deactivated any old MaslRider Japanese scenery and/or any other Japanese scenery.

Hiya Kevin,

Did you get the textures linked in these previous two posts? These are in addition to the sand texture that was missing?

They have also been included in the latest version of the download in the SOH library. That would be version mr-sakishima-gunto-160208.zip

Hiya Dv,

I think you're right and I will do that although I am pretty sure that those 3 missing files:

sand002-8.bmp
061h2su1o.bmp
013b2su4.bmp

should cover the current issues.

But probably better to be on the safe side.

When copying to the main CFS2 texture folder the note would be that if ask to overwrite, click no.

Better get on with it.

Thanks MaskRider for the reminder. I forgot to deactivate MR Japan #1. That solved the problem with Ishigaki but still have the elevation problem with the other. I'm going to deactivate other scenery's I have and see if I can pin point which one is causing the elevation problem. I'll get back with you on what I find.

Ooh, ooh, ooh, what a little texture can do!

Thanks Chris & DV,

I got 061h2su6o.bmp but missed 061h2su1o.bmp.

The islands now look magnificent. Great work!

Sakishima-Gunto

Wonderful piece of work Chris. Superb detail. Thank you very much. The new release successfully got rid of the green squares on my rig. Currently I have the same conflict problem as kwb737. I'll let you know if I find out what is causing it...
Thanks again, Dick.:applause:

I had "CFS2 Coast Pacific" installed in my scenery library for some unimportant reason and as soon as I deactivated it the elevation problem was fixed!! :applause:

Airfield Conflict

Hi Chris. I've also found out that the airfield conflict was caused by some scenery that I had for Ryukyu (I think by Steve McLelland). Removing the file Ryukyu3.bgl seems to work. Many thanks, Dick.

OK, puff pant, puff pant,

I think taht together we have got all of these little issues licked.

I want to thank everyone who has pitched in and helped out. I couldn't have done it without your feedback and help. Thanks!

I am just getting ready to upload what I hope will be a final version of MR Sakishima-Gunto- version 160209!

I added 3 texture files that, while not seeming to be causing any issues, I decided with DvSlats help should be added anyway. Also made the following change right at the first line of the "Installing" section of the readme:

INSTALLING mr-sakishima-gunto-160209 scenery pack

  1. Hi-lite all files in the MR Sakishima-Gunto/texture folder
  2. Copy and paste them to your main CFS2/TEXTURE folder
  3. If asked to overwrite click “no”.

Just make sure all bases are covered.

Thanks, Kelti,

But as I am sure you are aware from your own experiences in this game, I couldn't have done anything, what little I have done, without the trailblazing and help of others who came before me as well as contemporaries, who in my opinion, have actually accomplished far more. But I will happily accept praise on their behalf!

Thanks!
MR
