:adoration: Still in its stage I guess , I love to do a multi play with this, Bruce Fitzgerald CV-6 would be ideal , tho one has to drive the ship , the carrier , they are the ATC CAG and the LSO officer all in one so its not a boring job .. course you all need a Team Speak channel for clear communications.

Here are some little tidbits of "did you know?" regarding the birdcage F4U-1 Corsair...

The only birdcage Corsair to have been restored/flown in modern years, actually was not a true birdcage Corsair at all. The restored Corsair painted as NZ5201 (and depicted in the JF product) - flown as N90285 in the US and ZK-FUI in New Zealand - actually is/was an F4U-1A Corsair, originally with the framed sliding canopy. It was only during its (second) restoration to airworthy that it was converted/modified with the F4U-1 birdcage canopy and rear windows. Today this aircraft sits static in a Brazil museum. As for original surviving birdcage Corsairs (F4U-1's), currently under restoration, these are all of the known projects:

- F4U-1 BuNo.02270, recovered from Vanuatu, has been under restoration to static/display condition by the Classic Jets Fighter Museum (Australia) - last served with VMF-321, ditched on May 5, 1944.
- F4U-1 BuNo.02449, recovered from Vanuatu, is under restoration to fly at Vulture's Row Aviation, located in California - last served with VMF-214, crashed on October 1, 1943. (The restoration plan is to make the aircraft as authentic to original as possible, and it will be finished to appear as active/in-combat, with faded paint and weathering - original wartime paint/primer finishes kept on original NOS parts where possible.)
- F4U-1 BuNo.02465, recovered from Lake Michigan, has been under restoration to static/display condition for the US Naval Aviation Museum (Pensacola) - last served at NAS Glenview for carrier training, ditched on June 12, 1943.

Brilliant John, many questions about the rear canopy area, that shows it perfectly in the series off photo from the link you posted .. brilliant history with the aircraft to go with :encouragement:
 
External model and cockpit looks great in my first assessment. I was hoping to hear "Whistling Death" sound effects in the video.
 
Got it. Love it.
Thank to Bazzar and JF, this aircraft has always been my favorite.
And, lo and behold, it's as easy on the framerates as it is on the eyes!
Can't wait to see what the repainters do!

I have both, but I think both have their perks, imo.
The birdcage model has that eyepoint control, which I love and appreciate, as it allows me to get a good view around while A2A's doesn't.
I think the default zoom inside the Birdcage is really close, fully zoomed out, with the eyepoint in its regular position, I feel like I'm sitting on the stick but it's more than okay.
Both flight models are good, imo, and both seem to perform as they originally did.

The birdcage, in my opinion, has better stores management, but thats only because you have to dive into the payload configuration in game to get stuff to appear and disappear. (edit: I meant on the A2A model, having to manually add or remove loads)

If you cant decide, just get both! :biggrin-new:

I like em both. The major bonus of the Airplane Factory model (for me) is that the textures display much better on my rig. Those on the JF/AH model break up into jaggies although I don't see evidence of that on any of the screenies posted here. Other users must have superior pc's:biggrin-new:

TBH.. I didn't need another Corsair but the lure of the RN clipped wing model was too much to ignore. It'll probably end up being the only one I'll use from this release;)
