Beyond the Western Desert

I'm eventually going to need a lesson on how to adjust the boundaries to get the desired mileage and start one of these things myself. But this looks great! Looks like possibly adequate margin at the edges to cover all of Torch/Tunisia without seeing the edge of the map. It also seems like you've broken the 1835km limit and gotten away with it somehow. Is there still a limit to how big it can be?

Thanks for looking at it Dan.

unfortunately there is a limit and I am bumping up against it though I'm not sure what it is.

When I first made a test theater with Gtopo30 data I had no issue with my theater dimensions. Once I redid it with Srtm3 data then ers2tiff wouldn't load the DEM anymore. I was able to get it to work by shaving a bit of dem data from the southern area which I was not interested in anyway . Phew! all good for now.

Maybe there's a limit to the size of the dem data file at about 1.3GB??

Great resource! Though the drawings seem to be all post war. Hard to tell how they might have looked during Torch. I assume fewer were paved in 1942.
