FlightSim.com is OFFICIALLY Offline...

To be honest, I do agree with the Argument which states: that they bought the Site and so they do have all their rights to do with, whatever the heck they want with… of course! No argueing there…

However, I was a longtime member of Flightsim.com before as well… and i did participate in the Forum activities there too… so there are surely a few discrepancies from what the owners said before.. .as for example: that the downtime would not endure as long as it allready is now.

So, considdering the downtime and counting downtime, i also think, that they have never considdered to really bring Flightsim.com back to life. But rather to let it go down the drain. Also I am not sure if the owners who bought the site are really fluid in finances, but think thei’re gone bankrupt and can’t really finance a further existence of the site. Otherwhise, the Site would’ve allready be back up and running for a long time…. And so, i guess flightsim.com is definitely gone forever and won’t ever come back up again.

Personally, i think, its just sad to see such an important site gone… as it supported so many users for such a long time with rather important files and rather valued discussions and forum activities… - We all appreciated the file hostings and also the familiarity in the forum activities between each users…

Allthough, never say never, if anyone knows better, feel free to correct me on this critique.

For me, SOH has become the new Go-To Site for daily forum activities as well as filebase / downloads. And I definitely will stick around on SOH more actively even if Flightsim.com comes back up to life again. They probably lost my Audience…

Also most of my activity concerning flightsim, is currently based on my two Facebook Groups:

- FS2004 - A Century of Flight (with 1763 Users / Members)
- FS2004 - A Century of Flight (The Original) (with 747 Users / Members)

Up to know EVERY relaunch of sites are results of a lot of regressions. This site included.

Rebuilding the site was undoubtedly a major undertaking and a significant achievement. I have great respect for everyone who worked on it and invested so much time and effort. My criticism concerns the search function. As it stands, it is impossible - for me, at least- to select WWI ships for CFS2. Search terms like "WWI" or "World War I" yield unsufficiant or even incorrect results. It isn't easier while searching for specific items in other FS versions. Somehow, this was easier to manage in the old version. That said, I admit that search functions on other sites are even less satisfactory.

These are the easiest ones, as they have their own category. Others could only be found while searching with war years.

Why now,.....does it take me some many different links to click before I find the right one to enter SOH? Or would it be a problem at my end? It was never like that before.
 
Check that your links/bookmarks are actually pointing to the current '.org' site and not the old and defunct '.com' site. The old '.com' site domain name was picked up by scammers and data harvesters so you should be very wary if any of your old links/bookmarks still point to that site.

Priller is European. Europeans deal with funny money. They have 'cents', but they write it with the € sign. You know something like the metric system. Something I wish IO had learned decades ago.
