My apologies to Aerosoft for sticking someone else's plane in the thread about their beauty, I just had to see these two together and they turned out so nice!

Nice shots, you beat me to the punch.. I was just thinking how those two would look together! The Catalina a nice looking bird.

:ernae::ernae:

Cheers !!

The two Cats Together at Last !! Nice !!

Boy I wish I didn't have a real job. The next time I retire I'm just going to fly my Catalina.

Everyone is in the proper place...almost

Yep me too. However I am stupid enough to have allowed myself the two purchases I mentioned above. I may also allow myself one other, a floater from Alphasim...if it ever happens.

Yep I try not to get too close to me. I just keep all the windows open...that's quite an ordeal in Manchester in May(where's the chilly smilie?).

Wellllll. i gotta admit, the cable company is gonna just have to be a little upset with me this month, cuz i decided the cat was worth having more than their paid programming and commercials for once.. Now what i'd REALLY like to know is; Is there or will there be a paint kit for it??? I looked for one but couldnt find anything..

Judging by Mathjis' responsiveness...

...at least one FS add-on company has broken the customer service code!

Congrats on a super-looking Catalina...I'll be buying it when I get home in early June.

Can't wait!

Kent

P.S. And looking forward to future (Iceland, OV-10 and A-10) releases!!!

She's a beauty. I have mine airborne sneakin around Cuba. I just need a classic WW2 USCG paint and then im set in heaven.

I got a question.. Has anyone been able to cruise at 120 knots in this thing yet?? I cant get it over 110...makes it slower than a cessna..:(

When I was trying to get pictures of the two cats, I was able to cruise at about 140 knots at 1500-2000 feet, for about 4 minutes, then the engines gave up and wouldn't restart.

It was actually really hard to get pictures of the two cats together because the Hellcat is almost stalling out in level flight and is very unstable without flaps at about the same speed the Catalina is burning up it's engines.

That's OK though, just open up the windows and rood panels, and enjoy some low speed island cruising.

Anybody tried the mission yet? I picked up the crew, went to the first waypoint, then to the second, I circled the second waypoint for 30 minutes or so, different altitudes, even landed in the lake and puttered from one end to the other (it's got to be 15 miles long) and never got any more input from the co-pilot about what to do or where to go from there.

The firecrew was supposed to be looking at the situation to tell me what to do and the missions screen said something about "dousing the fire" or something like that, but I had no input into where the fire was, and I saw no evidence of fire anywhere in the area. A lot of low hanging clouds, maybe they were smoke, but they were all over the place.

I gave up and just went back to free flights. I'll have to try again tomorrow.

the manual quotes endurance cruise at about 85 knots and standard cruise is about 110, i do believe the cat moves quite slow in general. according to wikipedia the Qantas non-stop flights between Perth and Colombo during WWII took about 28-32 hours (3,500nm).

good luck to anybody doing the long haul in one of these!
