The Catalina X is finally released.

Downloading now. Hopefully I can finish writing my paper on the archaeology of metal working production sites in East Africa before the download is complete. I dont trust myself to finish the paper once I get this up in the air.

I hear you brother - I've got to do 6 bathroom layouts before tomorrow but there's only 10 minutes left on the download...

can anyone compare the frames to either one the defult planes or say the a2a p47?? :engel016:

Strangely enough I'm seeing a huge difference between frames in the package. All of the models with landing gear (i.e the amphib ones) bring my system to a haul. All of the standard sea-going versions with no retractable landing gear are smooth as silk, as good as the default FSX aircraft.

I understand that the amphib models are a few megs more in size which is fair enough when one considers the extra polygons and gear animations but I think it must be an issue with my system as no-one else is reporting such a big frame rate hit with the larger sized models.

Mine's down and, er, up.

After spending far too long having an animated discussion with the right engine, it finally coughed into life and scared the (furry) cat off my lap. She's now wandering around on the landing looking lost. I'm plodding around Alaska, looking lost. Possibly unurprising as I'm in the Pensacola model, which must be very lost to be departing Ketchikan! :engel016:

Liking this one so far. :applause:

Just about finished downloading, thanks Anneke. Watch the payment process, two cards rejected asking for another card each time, the third accepted with all three charged. I am sure they will work that out.

Would you be so kind to contact me on mathijs.kok@aerosoft.com so I can check that out. These kinds of problems are horrible for us. I personally will guarantee that if you are charged three times for one order you will end up with not being charged at all.

It means a lot to me, really. Download sales depend on trust between the customer and seller.

'Darem' on the front page of Simflight says:

Regarding framerates: Incredible. On my system, it’s like flying the stock Cessna 172SP. Smooth like silk. The Carenado Mooney is more demanding than this one.

I don't know who this is and I can honestly say that I don't think it's quite as resource friendly as the default Cessna, but it's an indication of another user without issues.

Gosh, I'm turning into a 'company type', what have you done to me Mathijs??

Mine's stuttering like stink right now, but that's because of the scenery.

I'm getting similar frame rates to the A2A WoP3 P-47 in the amphib vintage model.

I'm flying over FTX, so that taxes my system, but no worse than anything else. Great fun!
well, maybe the water effects when landing on the water disappoint a bit..
but the sound is great, I love it (though the rest of the family hates it, "turn that down!!!")

too bad my holiday starts tomorrow, and a fieldwork after that, because I have lots of ideas for that paintkit, patience, patience

Bought it without problem, downloaded it without problem, and it flies beautifully. No noticeable framerate drop at all, and the textures in the VC should win an award. Really nice job all around. I only get a few minutes to fly each day, but I'll be enjoying this for a while. :)

Mathijs, just saw your response above to the muliple charges for the PBY. I have sent you an email with all three receipts in response to the order. Your quick response is much appreciated but I will not accept the thought of not being charged. Your products are first class and you should receive payment. Thanks for this wonderful aircraft and I just want to slip in a plug for the F-16.

Frame rates are maxing out on my machine. Just took Black Cat through a spin in Vancouver and had no jitters or stutters whatsoever.

I gotta say though, I'm a little disappointed. Aerosoft sold me a defective plane. There is a sign on the console that says something about the gyro control lever being out of order. C'mon, two years of development you couldn't fix that??? :)

Edit to add:

I can't wait to see what you do with the mission pack. I'm also anxious to try out the mission that comes with it... later... before I waste my whole day playing with my new Kitty.

I'm starting the download for the 3rd time :frown:
stops at 74% and 93%
I'll just keep trying.

Delete your browser cache because most likely you are not reloading a real new version.

Alright for some reason everytime i try and load the cat into the game it crashes FSX. Any ideas?

Reposted on aerosoft board, sorry should have gone there first.

Keep in mind it IS an aircaft that needs a lot of memory. Both main memory and GPU memory. So when you combine that with detailed scenery at high settings (and on Vista) you are pushing things.

Please note that is is a bit hard for us at this moment to handle multiple forums at this moment, we will read messages here, but can only answer when there is time left from our own forums....
