Albatross!! Albatross!!!

Hello kaputtnix - glad you like the paints - hope the new .air-file can sort out that trim-problem - i can feel with you, nothing nervs more than a plane that is permanent instable.

My recommendation.. http://www.flight-manuals-on-cd.com/HU-16.html

I found them very informative and gave me the ability to fly the goat by the numbers. Much more satisfying and I don't seem to be suffering the issues others are having with trim. Of course, if you're climbing in the cockpit and slamming the throttles to full then who knows what might happen. :gameoff:

Hey Guys,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
I’m new here to the forums but I’ve been reading as a guest for a while and decided to join up. <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
The Albatross is one of my favorite A/C (aside from the Goose) and I’ve been looking forward to picking up this model for my virtual hangar. I’ve had several issues with the model though, many of which have been resolved thanks to the information being posted in this forum (thanks guys).
<o:p></o:p>

One issue that I can’t figure out is a glitch in the textures near the radome.

Here is a picture of what I’m talking about:

Anyone have any ideas?

On another note, I’m very impressed with the talented painters here and it is great to see how many new liveries are being created for this beautiful bird…<?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:shapetype id=_x0000_t75 coordsize="21600,21600" o:spt="75" o:preferrelative="t" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" filled="f" stroked="f"> :applause:<v:stroke joinstyle="miter"></v:stroke><v:formulas><v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"></v:f></v:formulas><v:path o:extrusionok="f" gradientshapeok="t" o:connecttype="rect"></v:path><o:lock v:ext="edit" aspectratio="t"></o:lock></v:shapetype><v:shape id=Picture_x0020_1 style="VISIBILITY: visible; WIDTH: 18.75pt; HEIGHT: 13.5pt; mso-wrap-style: square" o:spid="_x0000_i1025" type="#_x0000_t75" alt="http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/images/smilies/applause.gif"><v:imagedata src="file:///C:\DOCUME~1\Pilot\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_image001.gif" o:title="applause"></v:imagedata></v:shape><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>

I’m more into the civilian paints myself…here are a few snap shots of something I just whipped up ( a fictitious paint scheme I saw on the internet):<o:p></o:p>

Anyways, if anyone has any information pertaining to the radome glitch, I’d sure appreciate it.

Thanks!

I located another texture glitch. textures on the folding part of the gear door get moved down 10 pixels. I've tried everything from squashing that area to moving the texture up 10 pixels to deleting the part of the psd color layer that covers the wheel.. Nothing works.. I'd just like to know a way that i can fix it..

Pam,
If you look at my version on page 5 the way I do paints is to make a new template of the combineine whole fuselage and tail without any paint just the wireframe then add the layers as I go, and when you need to transfer them back to the original PSD's just copy and paste the paint layers. ps there are 3 silver stripes running from the bull on either side and the wings are silver whilst the engine cowlings remain white. Other than that great first paint:applause:.

Guess that'll be a 'No' then eh?

Crickey! Paying for the manual for a payware aircraft seems a bit off to me.

I wouldn't have bought it had I known. I like something to read and put on the shelf with payware.

Thanks Bruce.. Thats kinda what i did though.. Only instead of transfering one layer at a time, i tansfered the entire section. The pic above is pretty much an entire new paint job from the original a few days ago as i disassembled the originals and reworked that lower area. All the lines on the template match up exactly now and so they should all match up on the paint, but the wheel housing is really whacked.. Ieven tried making that part it's own layer, and that ended up looking like a badly squished partially triangular patch and it still got shoved down ten pixels..

I didnt know there were three silver lines coming off the bull. In the pic i used as a template i can only see the little triangles that extend into the blue area, and i think i just got really frustrated trying to get what i could see to work.. See, i'm not really a painter. Sure, i've painted a bunch of planes but never a real world paint.
Could you possibly point me in the direction of a pic that shows all three stripes?? I'd love to get those right..
Pam

Question...

Does anyone know if there is a way to edit the gauges in the panel? Don’t get me wrong, I like the way the panel looks but I’m having a problem with the gauges choking my computer (due to it being somewhat of a dinosaur). If I could replace the gauges with those of the default Goose, I’m sure it would run a lot smoother...plus, it would be cool to have the option to put in more modern gauges or the reality XP set if you own them.

Modifying the float heigth

:wiggle:
What a pwetty pwane! One small not so far, it sits a bit too high in the water but that's a quick fix hehe. So far I'm happy with it and I am happy with the reasonable pricing!

O.K. I'm game....how do you change the float height? I'm curious...

Well, Bruce was kind enough to send me his template for the albatross and give me a few pointers along the way. Thanks for that Bruce. it made a world of difference.. It still aint perfect. I'll never claim that, and i'm rather sorry that i wasnt able to manipulate the alpha channel well enough to make the silver parts sparkle like they do on the real plane, but still, i think it's looking ok now.. certainly nice enough to enjoy..
Hope you ll like the pic..

re the graphic glitch
I don't have the Albatross, but it does look very similar to the glitch I see on another AS model. Are you running Nvidia under Dx10 preview ? if try turing Dx10 preview off and see if the glitch is still showing. If it is then I remember AS saying it's a problem with Nvidia drivers / DX10 and not the model.

Great repaints everyone
