: Boy dont that about figure.. Thanks Bill.. They sure missed some good flying on this one then. Those gorges go down for over a thousand feet, and provide some really nice hang gliding. plus, theres miles of them.. miles and miles.. like some giant took and tried ripping the state in half. But, I'm thankful that at least the mountains got covered.. If Mt Bachelor is in there, then you'll also have all of the lakes up that way and some pretty decent amphib flying. If Sisters is in there you can even get a little something almost like bush flying in. They got a little strip up there that can handle most small planes, but nothing much bigger than a cessna.. I guess they imagined everyone would be flying out of portland ( yuck ) but truthfully, starting with Mt hood on the north, then down past jefferson, washington, broken top, three sisters, three fingered jack and bachelor, you got dome incredible low level flying to enjoy. And the eagles all live here too. All kinds of them. Balds, browns Ospreys, you name it, and not those tiny little runts you see in the zoos, but giants in their full glory with up to twelve foot wing spans. Just seeing one of them fly overhead is enough to make any man cry just because of their sheer raw powerful beauty. we humans, we may borrow the sky, but them?? They own it... I'm gonna look forward to this, even if they did forget my town :
