Dear Fellows - anyone else have trouble with the Download-Version of the Warbirdsim Mustang for FSX? I have purchased the Download-Version at the 29. of December last Year but get no confirmation-email since then.

I have contacted PayPal and they confirm that the payment is done.

I send a few emails to Support@warbirdsim with all informations about the payment I have, but still get no download-link from them. All what they answer to me is that I should be confident and polite and yesterday this:

"Thank you for being patient while we do all we can to resolve this and send you the links. Assuring you of our attention at all times"

I can not understand why they send me the download-link instead of those "Thank you for being patient"-emails. I have paid for it !

Thats frustrating me alot - never had this before and let me say that i buy addons for a long time now all over the
World.

Thanks for your attention

I debated about replying since I've only been dealing with this for about 24 hours myself, but here goes. I purchased it this past Sunday (1/3/10) and went thru the activation process, copied and pasted what I thought was the correct code, but apparently didn't include all of the text, so got an email in return asking me to please NOT edit the text. I emailed a reply in return asking for clarification as to what I needed to send, and later last night what I THINK is the complete activation file, but as of yet still haven't had a response to either.

In all fairness I DID receive the email in a timely manner after sending the first activation request so maybe they're just swamped with activation requests. I have the P-51B/C package for fs9 and I'm sure it'll look great in fsx.

This will make my 3rd aircraft where one has to seemingly "jump thru hoops" to activate/reactivate, and actually one of them (the T-37 Tweet I STILL have not been able to get to work properly after reinstalling in Vista 64.) and cannot get a reply from the guys at T37sim.com on any assistance. Not to bring up the old debate about piracy/protection, but it does get frustrating sometimes...:icon29:

This is why I'm staying quite clear of this add-on, sounds like a night-mare. - Oh and the cost :frown:

I purchased it with the sale they're currently doing which really isn't that badly priced when looking at some of the other payware aircraft out there and what comes with them, otherwise I probably wouldn't have gotten it either.

The first thing I did was print out the installation instructions and then ticked off each step as I did it. Parts of the process are a bit complex but I found it very easy to follow on paper and had no problems getting activated.

I also know your frustrations fellows! this installation process isn't for people with heart problems...

warbirdsim give us plenty to talk about...

also took me 10 days to see and fly the mustang... the security system they've implemented is simply out of this world, hence the need for an "ariane" to get it! :icon_lol:

but apart from that the activation after received the email was a strait forward process, i follow step by step the installation instructions and it works... :engel016:

I have been communicating briefly with WBS via email about activation procedures and pointing them to threads here on SOH where customers are awaiting their codes. While I understand that the Christmas period is not going to be the best time to receive a manual activation code and often a customer's spam filter can cause problems for all parties involved, as a potential paying customer, I think this activation process is a farce and I'm afraid I've decided to spend my money elsewhere.

Anybody downloading a product in this day and age, should wait no longer than 24 hours for final activation in my opinion.

I fully agree Nick. I've just sent them another email just to be sure they haven't forgotten to send mine for some reason. I'm beginning to get " a bad taste in my mouth " over this one after reading the other posts about it taking several days of emails and no responses to get an activation. I suspect this is my LAST purchase from any company with such an activation process, unless I read nothing but great things about their customer service from other purchasers that are more adventureous than I.

Think I'll go have a :icon29: and try to maintain my cool over this...:pop4:

Darrell

mine all went smoothly, ordered 28th dec, followed insturctions in the manual to the letter, got activation that evening with no fuss. Seems to be very much luck of the draw :engel016:

One thing that make me sad is the big Statement above piracy at their site and that they have to protect their software - but who protect us costomers ? Just another day over without an email from Warbirdsim that clarify why i did not get the download-link - emails which told me that i have to be patient are a derision and make me angry.

I have to say that having read the instructions on how to activate this, it couldn't be much clearer about what you need to copy and how to do it.

That said, I'm far from impressed by the copy protection system, which certainly seems to impede legitimate users far more than those who want a cracked copy if what people are telling me and what I'm reading here is true. I have no reason at all to disbelieve any of it, so yes, this system really is as bad as I said it was right at the start. I don't blame a single person who doesn't get this as a result for making that decision.

I have started this thread because I want to know if i am the only person which have a problem to get that what i have payed for ! That is what frustrating me - I have payed at the 29. December and never get the product !!!!!! I do not want to blame anyone or a single person, but i can not understand where the problem is and nobody from warbirdsim give me an answer or a solution that help me - to be patient is not a solution at my side.

I have to say that having read the instructions on how to activate this, it couldn't be much clearer about what you need to copy and how to do it.

Here are the lines I didn't copy/paste:

<=== Warbirdsim Activation Request Body Start ===>
.
.
.
<=== Warbirdsim Activation Request Body End ===>

I copied, pasted, and sent all the numbers and letters in the middle of the two lines but apparently the above lines, which appeared needless to me, are also to be included...It would be easy for one to think reading those lines that what is between the lines would be all that needed to be sent.

Sure, it's my fault for not including them, but it gives the perception of a lack of customer service to resend all the requested info and not get a response after an extended amount of time and that's what frustrates me the most.

Please don't get me wrong, Darrell, I don't disagree with you at all.

To be honest, I might be over-helpful, but if I had to run a bunch of numbers through an application manually as we're told these have to be and a customer had excluded those lines, I'd probably copy and paste them in using a text editor and then run it through anyway. I might possibly send back an e-mail with the activation that politely asks them to send the complete code, as per the manual, if they have to do it again, but if it's a completely manual process and the critical part of the code that couldn't simply be replaced was fully present, I'd just deal with it.

I also agree with Nick that not signing e-mails with even a first name doesn't look "professional", it looks "dodgy" to me. Most developers and publishers want to be identified with a product they are trying to sell to customers, in my experience.

Anyway, apart from the fact that I still don't trust Warbirdsim a huge amount, this thread doesn't directly affect me, so I'll go back to lurking in my dark corner.

Hi Ian, I think that's what I don't understand about this whole deal with them, , I copy/paste the activation code but do not include those two lines, I get an email telling me to please NOT edit the text file..why go to the trouble of doing that? Why not just send the activation code and practice some good customer service :isadizzy:

Darrell

The Customer-Support from Warbirdsim in my case is very simple - absolut nothing - another two days without a download-link. Thank you very much for such a great service :applause:.

...and yet another 2 days here without an activation code... I've opened a Paypal dispute, hopefully they'll reply soon or I'll file a case with Paypal. Bomber_12th, if you're following this thread, can you get us some help?? I'd really like to fly your Mustang in FSX. It's almost like Warbirdsim is saying "screw you, you weren't smart enough to figure out how to get the thing activated on the first try so we'll get back to you when we feel like it"

I hate to take this tone on the forums here, and very seldom post anything negative, but frankly, this one is seriously pi$$ing me off..

Darrell

edit: Just PM'd Warbert on here to see if I can get any assistance that way... here's hoping...
