Tims new plane is out. (J7W "Shinden")

I been looking for two days and can"t figger out this system, no how. I've tried all the links and got nothing. I look in Japanese aircraft and am told the site is empty.
Tim, could you please publish in a more kindly web site? Something that us earthlings can understand, like FlightSim.

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I can't figure out how to change the bearing on the CDI indication on the HSI. How do you do it?

Regardless, it's a fantastic plane and this old canard driver really is having fun with it. Light touch on that elevator. Thanks very much, Tim. :medals:

cheers,
steve :wavey:

Nice screenshots Daube!

Here are some YouTubes of Sky Crawlers.

There are better scenes. Just run a search and you'll find some brilliant shots.

The movie is really crazy, but the effects, animation, and combat scenes are 'extremely' well done.

"Helldiver just go to the warbirds library icon top of this page and click what' hot, scroll down and its there!"
Thanks Peter, With your help and my Tom Mix Ralston Straight Shooters decoding ring I was able to locate the Shiden. Anyone with common sense should have known to hit Warbirds, whats hot and scroll down until you find it. I must be uncommonly stupid. Education at MIT be damned.

It is fun to fly...but tricky to land (havent succeeded yet without crashing into the ground.... anyone advise on best technique... just wants to keep on flying and wont slow down enough and if i try too hard to keep the nose down it pitches down violently into the ground... a challenging subject but i will get the hang of it...

Matt

Definitely a beast to land. Problem is she flies at such a high AOA at landing speeds that you can't see anything over the nose. In the attached pic, I'm still descending at 1000 FPM, and at 130-ish knots, and already the ten mile long runway at Edwards is about to disappear under the nose. Can't push the nose over to see anymore, in fact, I have to pull up more, to arrest my perilous descent rate ... At some point the sides of the runway come into view out the left and right windows, and that helps. But for a short runway, one of those F4U constant turning final approaches are probably a good idea in this thing. I touched down at around 120-130 knots, which set her down on the main wheels with the nose high in the air. I guess I should read the book to see how I'm supposed to be doing it... :icon_lol: And being a bit “twitchy” in pitch and roll doesn't help!

I did okay landing, takes some prep. I agree the pitch is sensitive, but I have lots of jets with very sensitive controls, flying these is not for those with Parkinson's and I mean that as no joke. It takes a steady hand.

I did a new prop blur for the Shendin. Not that Piglet's is bad, it's just black with yellow tips, when the prop is the familiar Japanese red-brown with yellow tips. I simply changed the black to red-brown and ever so slightly add a new alpha with a little more rotational blur.

When's the XP-54 and XP-55 coming out Piglet? :icon_lol:

HSI?? huh?
CDI??
all these modern terms....:icon_eek:

it's JUST a VOR. Card shows heading and needle shows Omni Bearing selected (via the knob below the gauge) - and you need Generator, batt. and radios turned on for it to work. (Note: VOR only, not an ILS so it will only display Localizer - no G/S)

I assume the US military added it during testing of the captured a/c :jump:

How about a nice repaint of a US captured test bird in natural metal like I've seen opther captured planes?

I'm really enjoying the flights on this bird. The landings are quite challenging I have to say, but I think I've found a suitable technique now. It needs a good repaint, though :jump:

Ah, a little question about the gauges of this aircraft:
Which one is showing the Manifold Pressure ?
I would like the modify the aircraft.cfg to include the maximum Manifold Pressure to simulate the engine damage, but I don't know what is the suitable value, and where to monitor it...

The knob changes the heading, not the bearing.

NICE JOB TIM!!

This really is a brilliant model, but I would indeed like to see some repaints for them. They would have to be fictitious, but hey?! :)
