F7F Tigercat SOH Project

Since I am awaiting gauge updates for the AT-11, I thought I would get the rest of the models updated with corrected wing maps and the same VC setup as the RTW racer. This should make the Tanker guys happy as their paint scheme showed the wing issues blatantly.

I have the -1, -3 single, and the tanker completed. Now for the -3 two seater, and the -3N night fighter.

Just thought for these temporary WIP releases, you guys might like the nicer VC albeit temporary.

It's like thanksgiving and christmas rolled into one! We are being spoiled rotten!
Thank you very much indeed - I enjoy flying the first release very much! The finished Tigercat will be another FS classic...

Sorry - double post.

The F7F I saw under CFS2 planes was a conversion of the Alpha one. Not sure the one Sc is working on is complete yet.

F7F-3N About Ready for Textures

I have upgraded the 3N to the RTWR standards (unfinished for temporary consumption), fixed the wing maps, remapped the fuselage, wings and tail sections so there are no overlapping parts, added a pilot and radar operator (thank you "Full"), added a droppable tank, put in a basic radar operator cockpit non-functional), swapped out the VC and 2D panels using PRB's panels and Scott Thomas' gauges mainly (thank you Sir-beautiful), and adjusted the aircraft and panel cfgs to make it all work.

So, anyone interested in slapping some paint on this bad boy?

*waving hands in the air maniacally* possibly over here (If this Twin Pin would leave me alone)..... :icon_lol: i just realised i'm such a kid at times :icon_lol: glad to see the other models there and the mapping sorted nicely...

Been buying a few more payware planes than usual in the sales, but this beats the pants off all of them! Gorgeous model and panel, tip top FDE, awesome sounds and Falcon's killer paints. Thanks very much (again).

Just sent a PM to you.

The fuse/tail/wing mapping is different for the 3N as I had to shuffle things around to accommodate the larger tail than the -1.

There are only three bmps involved, the fusen_t.bmp covers the fuselage, tails, and wings; the eng0_t and eng1_t.bmp covers the engines.

The fusen_t.bmp is similar the the original, just shuffled, and can co-exist in the same texture folder with the original fuse_t.bmp.

If you have done the original, it is a matter of moving parts to re-align with the new template.

I am preparing the package for upload to my site for painters. Give me a couple hours to complete that. Meanwhile here is the fusen_t.bmp for anyone wanting to slap on some paint.

Well thank you expat; those are some kind words. :) I must say I need to download Falcon's paints as I have been so busy with the other model updates, I have yet to do that. Thanks

Milton, that last pic you posted of the nightfighter with it's nose in the air, reminded me of something I read about the Tigercat a long time ago. Apparently with low or no fuel in the tanks, it was tail heavy and the tail would drop just as shown. The ground crews would stand up a 55gl barrel with some wood pallets stacked on top just to prevent the tail from hitting the ground.

In this pic from the Naval Aviation Museum, you can see the rear of the aircraft being supported behind the mains to keep the aircraft upright.

I looking forward to the Tanker variants myself but i must say she seems like a beuty! :jump::jump: I am also looking forward to the E-1 being done!! :jump: (Just wondering, were the small and big tank variants done for the tanker variants?

I'm a bit rusty I suppose but would love to do some paints for any version. My last paintjob for a plane was in 2005 (http://www.flightsim.com/zview.php?cm=view2&fn=/home/flight/files/71/tu154pt1.zip&an=TU26.jpg&idx=3), I was never really temted since then ;). I'm likely to take some time though...

I will upload the Tanker Variant later today or Monday. No I haven't done a small tank version as we haven't done the water drop effects yet.

Willy, I guess that is why they have the tail bumper. the under-belly tank was behind the center of gravity and 25% MAC, as was the radar equipment and operator. Once the wing tanks and ammo were loaded, I guess that pulled things back forward. I forget how much the radar equipment in the nose weighed.

Okay Tanker Guys ...

I have finally gotten all the gauges and xml code, aircraft.cfg settings and panel.cfg windows setup properly to get this fire retardant working again with the new aircraft and panel. Thanks to Hans-Joerg Naegele for the many hours of work he put in making all this happen. We are not there yet with all the other smoke effects but Thunder100 will get back on that in time.

Tankerguy72 did this awesome work back on the initial release of the tanker ... just love it personally, a real workhorse. :applause: Since he made it available, I am hoping he is okay with my uploading this one ... but I will wait for his approval.

nice... that'll come in handy for annoying the livestock at my test area :icon_lol: can't wait to get some racer schemes on these birds! Great work to all the team :ernae:
