Totally understand Milton! :salute: i was hoping cus i have the S-2 from Abacus but ... doesnt fly the greatest and its not the tanker version. If you happen to do it i have alot of S-2A panel pics and outside pics. I pretty much lived at the Hemet Ryan Tanker base when S-2s ran the place haha.

and P.S. sorry the AT-11 is BEAUTIFUL!!! LOVE THE SOUNDS also.

AT-11 Issues

Well, I installed the Hobbs Army Air Field into FSX.. I "opened" FSX to get a look at the base, I used a PT-19 as a "taxi" to drive around HAAF.. Very Nice!
I closed FSX then loaded the AT-11 into the sim.. "Aircraft" folder into SimObjects/Airplanes and Effects into the Effects folder.. I opened FSX and immediately got a "problem prompt" that something #116 was (all of a sudden) missing from HobbsAAF. I went ahead an entered the Sim and as soon as it opened, it locked-up tighter than a drum.. Did "Ctrl/Alt/Delete" to close FSX, deleted the AT-11 folders, reopened FSX, still got the same prompt that "116" was missing.. I deleted Hobbs from FSX.
Then I loaded the AT-11 into FS9.. Opened with the AT-11 in the NE Parking Lot of (the former) Carswell AFB.. ALL the buildings were white, the AT-11 was a flat gray w/no markings, eventually (30-45 seconds) MOST of the color returned to the air base.. except for the hangers and other large buildings, which remained "featureless white". The color on the AT-11 regenerated one "piece" at a time! I taxied to the south-end of the airport and the entire time the colors were "flashing" off and on.. The AT-11 and the runway would go all gray, all "details" just disappeared so I checked my Frame Rates, which is generally rock steady at 31.9FPS (locked on 32FPS).. When the "flashing" would happen, the FPS dropped so fast that I really could not see the number, but know it was a single digit. It would "recover" to 19FPS and the runway returned to normal.. the plane took the longest, when it regenerated it's color, my frame rate was back up to 31.9.
I generally fly the WOP (now A2A) B-17 out of this air base and have never experienced any frame rate drop.. When I land at DFW, my frames do dip a bit, but never below 20 and no "flashing" of the colors or "stuttering" of flight..
Anybody else having like symptoms?
My computer isn't a slouch with an Athlon x2 Dual Core 5000+ AM2 CPU, Four Gigs DDR2 Ram, a Fatal1ty 8500GT Graphics Card all powered by a 750Watt PSU.. O/S is Win XP Pro (32bit). I even "move" my Flight Sims to the second Core so as not to compete with normal system resources, of which I've got everything turned-off that does not "need" to be running.
Any suggestions?

Thanks Milton & Team, for this great and realistic job.:salute:
Beautiful plane and fantastic sound used...

DHC, check your scenery settings. My computer is a screamer as well but this is a very large scenery. My fps drops from 35 at my lock to 14 if scenery is on Untra High settings, my norm. Changing to High gets me 24, Medium High gets me 28-32. Since this area around is so sparse anyhow, I see nothing else lost, only gains to drop scenery settings for flying this airport.

Try it and see if the improvement is dramatic for you as for me. It allowed me to truely enjoy all the work that went into the over 400 objects here.

Now, this evening I will go through the aircraft textures again to see if any alphas have been left out that may cause this issue for some computers.

Milton,
This I believe has to be best and most realistic aircraft I've ever flown in FS9, this was my reaction when I saw it in the game..... :jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop: need I say more? lol extremely nice job to you and SOH team.

p.s.
not to mention every other plane you've made for FS9

What you can try (under FS2004 at least) is to convert the AT-11 textures as DXT3...
You will have a little down graphic quality of the AC textures but not so much .. and maybe the AC will not tax so much your system
IMHO.
I dunno if you can convert under FSX (don't own FSX)
BTW very nice plane (how it can be the contrary when it's come from the Milton team :) ) ... just beginning to test it in flight and seem's promising...
Need more tests for be customized with it anyways .

AT11 Kansas

Too the AT11 team :salute::salute::salute: a pure joy to use. I'm only a flight simming pilot that enjoys twin engine piston powered aircraft this offering is a pure delight. Thank you Mr.Shupe and team
ol'Jarhead:wavey:

Been flying this baby exclusively for the past couple days and am loving it.

Side note: I always add "visual_damage=1" to all my liveries so I can enjoy my Massive Crash effects when I "Panther" my landings -- which is not an uncommon event with me. I must say that to date I haven't "panther'd" once. That is a true testament to the great handling of the At-11 team. She's not overly easy but heeds directions well.

Thanks once again to Milton and the awesome AT-11 team for yet one more unforgetable addition to the sim community.

Milton;
On the Scenery window, The "Special Effects Detail" slider I backed-off to "Medium". In the "Under Terrain" section, I left everything as I had it set.. Mesh:41, Texture: Medium, Detail: Land Only, Water Effects: None, Dawn/Dusk & Extended Terrain: all checked.
Under the "Scenery Objects" section, I backed off "Scenery Complexity" and "Autogen Density" from "Dense" to "Normal".. Also, the "Add-On Dynamic Scenery" box is checked, and I backed the slider down to "Normal" from "Dense", as well. The three boxes, "Ground Scenery", "Sun Glare" and "Lens Flare" are all checked.
I flew the AT-11 out of KNFW (Ft. Worth NAS, was Carswell AFB) and watched my frame rates.. Locked at 30 and I normally have a steady 29.9, in the hour I flew, this morning, I watched the FPS drop to a low of 19.0.. I got an occasional "skip" in the motion.. like a frame was missing. All the colors rendered and stayed.. no "flashing". So there was much improvement.
The visual scenery OF Ft. Worth and what should be the surrounding city was pretty sad looking.. Half the buildings of downtown were gone, all of the area surrounding downtown proper (the rest of the city) was what I can only describe as "west Texas Scrub".. brown ground, a few greenish-brown bushes.. basically the FS9 "default" "no scenery" used in between towns in the US..
With respect to actually "Flying" the AT-11, once I locked the tail wheel to stop the "ground loops", I could taxi all over the airport by using just the throttle levers (differential throttle control) 95% of the time.. an odd tap of the toe brakes was needed on the sharper turns.. Once airborne, the AT-11 is a dream to fly.. almost "too easy".. Even played with the AP.. totally, 100% "hands-off" maneuverable by clicking the "Knurl Knobs" and no sudden direction changes when the AP is switched off.. just the warning horn (which I also got when I raised my landing gear.. when I was only fifty feet off the deck ;-} (Ground Proximity Warning??).
Lastly, landing the AT-11 is, to say the least, an "Art".. One MUST be the proper approach speed, least the flaps and landing gear will not come down.. Once your approach speed is correct (and your sink-rate isn't too fast), putting all three wheels on the ground is like spreading warm butter on bread! Needless to say, I had a lot of "bounces" before I got it right! ;-}
All-in-all, my only "complaint" is the Frame Rate "hit" my system is getting..
Another poster said something about changing something to (or from) "DXT".. I have not clue as to what that is, but is it something that will reduce the frame-rate drop? If so, can you tell me where I could find instructions to make that change?
I really want to fly this plane (in the same locations) for the 700+ hours my Dad did in '42 & '43.

Hail Claudius;
Could you direct me to some instructions that would tell me what "DXT3's" are, where to find them and how to change them? I'm not a "computer guy" (although I built my own rig), I was (for 40+ years) a mechanic, by trade.. I did full restorations from '92 until I retired.. now I'm (finally) restoring my own classic cars.. like the 1953 Jaguar XK120 DHC (one of 1475 built), that I bought when I was a twenty year old college student!
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi,

It's rather a easy process ..
You need the tool DXTbmp
You can download it here:
http://www.btinternet.com/~mnwright/programs/dxtbmp.htm
It's a good help included :)
But the conversion is to make one file a time ....... it's time consuming
This proggy can show you the textures .. and allow many edits .... very useful.
Or you can use a more quick process !
Download this:
http://www.4shared.com/file/df889Wqi/Batch_Converter.html
This a batch converter
Extract in a working (temporary) folder
You will obtain a folder named
Batch_Converter
Inside it's many bat files and a small proggy (EXE)
Don't bother of the EXE.
How it's work ?
Put the textures files you want to convert in the same folder as the bat files (Batch_Converter) and click twice on the bat you want for conversion
I suggest you to use first "convert to dxt3 with mips.bat"
You can also try the "convert to dxt3 nomips.bat" .. you will seen by yourself about the result (quality)
You can also choice to not convert the VC panel textures (usually begin by VC) for not lost VC graphic quality .. it's just try and test ... :)
You files will be converted
So you have just to copy paste them in your original texture folder and allow overwrite
After you can erase (delete) the textures from the "Batch_Converter" folder (be sure to keep all the bat files and the EXE so it's ready for a next use)
Just be sure also to save your originals textures files before overwrite ! .. just in case :)
Hope it's help !!
