The Thorp has been uploaded!

Almost done

I will upload this when Rob gets the paint templates finalized, and I have a chance to recheck them.

FINISHED!!

Awesome ...thanks! NZ simmers will appreciate this!

I only have one question concerning NZ aircraft. Are they required to have the registration on the under side of the wing? If so, I have to add it.

The short answer is no..it would appear ZK-EDF has an all white wing on both the top and upper surfaces

I love that green paint scheme Ole Boy! Nice work.
:applause:

Thanks Bill!

I wasn't too sure how it was going to look to be honest. The RW plane is hard to judge by a picture. But after seeing it in the sim I impressed myself. It did turn out nice. That changed my whole perspective on repainting simple (I think) schemes. :mixedsmi:

FYI, ZK-EDF is uploaded ;)

I have an update candidate out for review. Here's what it's got...

  • The RKEnv map was removed. All textures now work off the stock map.
  • Better looking nav light lenses.
  • The bits where the gas cap is got textured.
  • The access to the gas cap is now triggered by clicking the gas gauge. This way the door stays open at the pump!
  • Some adjustments were made to material settings.
  • Paint kit is included.
  • The texture folders were revised based on discussions earlier in the thread. This solved the problems I was having with paints not loading correctly.
  • The full flap crash has been fixed.
  • There was a smoothing issue over the top of the fuselage at the access panel to the gas tank. It looks much better now.
  • The N Number label now reflects the registration of a given paint.
As soon as I am satisfied that I have no issues with it I'll be sending it up. :salute:

Rob, what engine does your Dad's Thorp have?

Wikipedia says that an O-360 (with a resulting 180 mph cruise) is a possible option...

We're on the same track. Although I don't worry about it on my hard drive.

My FSX partition on my SSD is only 68 GB big, so I kind of have to.

Don't ask me what I had to do with more complexly configured models like Tom's 727 in terms of texture.cfgs...

There are actually quite a few engines that have been put in them, including a few auto engines. We started out with an 0-290G (125hp) and now it uses an 0-320 (150hp). Currently it has a climb prop on it so we are actually a tad slow on cruise, and in fact on the real one because there are no fiberglass parts it's heavier and slower than a standard Thorp.

I'm pretty certain the original design was for the 0-290G, which was the engine found in the ground power units for fighter jets back in the '60s. There were many surplus engines around, and they were cheap.

Mean while

I did the new. So why not the old too! :mixedsmi:

Work in progress of course.

Thats a pleasant surprise Oleboy...looks great! I've seen this aircraft in that scheme...it certainly caught the eye

Thanks!!

You know something Naki, there is a tiger on the tail, and another sticker in the stripe. Also, there's another triangular sticker on the left side below the canopy. Is there any chance you know that those are, or where i can find them? I would really like to add them if at all possible. Could you look around for to see if you can find them? I'd sure appreciate it.

Please keep in mind that these repaints should work with the updated models, but I cannot guarantee that. I'm trying hard to maintain the mapping but changes are inevitable. :salute:

I will have a hunt around. :mixedsmi:

In the mean time, it's completed as far as I can go for now. This paint is another I am holding off on uploading until Robert gives the OK. I may have to re-edit all the paints I've released so far (sigh) I don't mind. I hope everyone waiting for more repaints don't either.

A custom prop and matching prop blur too!
