  • Special Server Maintenance

    Just when you think you have everything running some what better...

    You get a message from the Hosting company. Short story they need to move us to a new server. I have been working with them to plan a good date for all concerned. Here is what we have come up with as a schedule.

    1. November 4th 17:00 -5UTC shut off the forums and start backup proceedures. During this time there will be no access to the forums or the Resource Section.
    2. November 5th Continue with Backups and download same until complete.
    3. November 6th 7:00 turn over server to hosting company to move system to new server
    4. November 7th - 8th restore backups and upgrade forum software.

    If all goes well we should be back online on November 8th.

    To keep you updated we will post updates on AVSIM forums.

It's just hard to imagine what the 75MM automatic reloading cannon could do and how it would sound. It must have been an awesome weapon.

I plan will finish the Harpoon exterior Friday and then I will move on to the VC.

I will likely map the exterior for textures this weekend to discover and eliminate any mesh issues.

I haven't had a texture artist step up for this yet, although Nigel will do the sounds and Fliger will do the flight model.

I have no panel gauge programmer on this project as Scott will be busy until the Fall months.

If necessary, I will use Scott's gauges from the era and cobble something together but I would really like to see this done well.
 
Milton, the Grizzly with it's 75mm would have made a very effective anti-shipping aircraft.

Well, Patful, I know the stabilizer sits on a raised step but the fillet gradually curves up smoothly from the fuselage rather than what looks like flattened ball that the stab is sitting on.....
 
Gentlemen,

The nature of these projects is that they evolve through many iterations, at least for me. Every part on this model has be revisited many times. Every part has an evolution based on pictures I have and acquire over time. It starts with a basic likeness of a 3-view and gets molded as real world pictures show more details. I cannot do anything perfect to real world and have no intention of doing so. But I will do the best "likeness" I can with the information I have with the ability I can muster. In the end, the texture, sound, panel, and flight model artists do what I can't do and that is bring her to life.

So over time, improvements get made and we end up with a decent likeness to enjoy. Hopefully that will be the case here.
 
I don't even have my grubby little hands on it and I am enjoying it!:icon_lol:
But seriously Milton,your the artist,its your canvas and you are doing an damn good job! I challenge anyone that critiques your work to try and do better!:salute:

Thanks Joel but don't misread my comments. I do appreciate input and feedback from anyone. It is very helpful. When I am focused on one thing, I do not see many others and it is these comments that allow me to shift my attentions. Its why I continue to display the in-progress work. Can you imagine not seeing it until the end of project and all the issues surface then? :) Not good.

I wish more developers had your attitude! Too many seem to keep their projects under double super secrecy until finished. If they are intimately familiar with the type they are reproducing, that works out ok, but if not, then often there are errors in the model. Milton, your work is most definitely in the payware class. Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do for the flight sim world. :applause::applause::applause:

Whoops.Sorry.:redface: My bad.Coming from a artistic family I thought you where getting upset with others suggesting you change this and alter that.I apologize everyone.I am just really excited about this project(I take it we all are:icon_lol:).

Bah! No problem; I appreciate your enthusiasm and support. Maybe you guys can help with some early alpha testing if interested.
 
Milton will probably shoot me some flying pieces fairly soon to begin the usual tuning and testing. Perhaps at some time we will do about every R2800 powered aircraft?

Hi Tom,

I assume you want a mapped aircraft before I send it so give me a few more days yet.

Meanwhile, I have been slaving away in the bomb bay all day getting a structure in place, doors, hinges, hangars, etc. in place and animated.
 
It looks superb! Oh, I didn't mean to be critical - maybe I picked the wrong words? I would never be that sort of person towards a developer. Far from it. I just tried to help in a constructive way.
