Grumman Duck (Swingman Redux) Native

I see that a few of you already have the new Duck stuff I uploaded. Can I get some quick feedback? Especially for my attempt at an FDE!
I wanna put it up at Avsim and Flightsim soon, but, once uploaded there, I can't change anything myself. Thanks...Don

Don, can you repost this? Not sure if I have the right version.

Cheers,
Mark

Missing gauges?

Don,
I circled in red what appears to be missing gauges. Are those gauge supposed to be blank?

Richoday,
I had the same problem and sent Don an email...

Here is his response
Quote:"In the panel folders for each of the J2F-4/5/6 original downloads should be a
"DuckJ2F" folder along with a VC only panel.cfg.The DuckJ2F folder contains
the gauges you are missing, I'm sure. Putting it in FSX/Gauges will allow all of
them to share it."

It worked perfectly and restored the missing gauges.....

Rick!

Thanks...it works

I followed your advise and now the missing gauges are now visible in the virtual cockpit.

Glad to see you got the gauges sorted fellas.

@Mark, there is only one of my versions uploaded here. There are a couple by Wild Bill Kelso(Markus) also.
The earlier one I did (duckpandcb1.zip) was put up at flightsim. Or did I misunderstand, as usual?...Don

Hello,

I have downloded the J2F Duck the june 07, 2012. I have insatalled the Grumman_J2F4_Duck on my FsX/Acceleration. The bird is well done. Bravo

But I have an unusual problem. When I land on sea, the plane keep an 24 kt IAS even with the engine at idle. I have to stop the engine to slow down the speed. Have you an idea of what is the cause to this behavior? Thank you for your help.

Have a good day

Benoit

Under the [piston_engine] section in the aircraft.cfg file, you will find the following values:

max_design_mp=36.000
min_design_mp=10.000

The engine produces maximum power when operated at Manifold Pressure of 36 in.
When throttle is reduced to idle, the Manifold Pressure drops to 10 in. but some (excess) power is still being produced.

Lower the "min_design_mp=10.000" in steps of 2 until you get what you want the airplane to do. When and
if the engine quits, go back up 2.

Basically, you just need to "tune" the performance to your requirements.

Ahhh, I had the same problem, thanks for the advice! One more thing learned.

Cheers,

You folks might want to try the FM included in my panel set.
Each version also has it's own setup to accomodate the differing engines and weights.

The targets of my new aircraft.cfgs and *.air files were; Idle Speed, Roll Rate, Max Speed in level flight, Engine rpm, Power vs MP, Fuel consumption, and Turning tendencies. All were done to reflect what exact RW data that I could find.

With my limited experience, I think I pretty much accomplished those goals. Critical feedback is definately welcome...Don

Hello glh,

Thank you very much for your advice, It have solved my problem. In the next days I will fine tune the value of min_design_mp.

Once again thank you very much for your help. Have a good day

Also remember that if the aircraft is on water, you do NOT have the friction of an applied parking brake to hold you in position. I would bet that MP=10.0 would be no problem on land with the parking brake applied.

I'm not sure if its just me or not, but the download links seem broken? anything on that? Would love to try out this doll :)

Apparently there is another occurrence of Icarus claiming this version was pirated and SOH promotes piracy.
Hopefully will be resolved soon.

Yes, again...

But this is a hot topic 'behind the scenes' and we are trying to work out the best solution.
