MASH 4077 scenery

Randy, I appreciate all the efforts in the mash w/update but I gotta ask, where did the welcome to mash 4077 sign go? It was in the original (I still have that one just in case). Thanks

Not what I wanted to hear but, you have just confirmed what I was afraid would happen. The update didn't work. I was afraid that simply adding the bgls and textures back into the folder wouldn't work. The ADEX file is still looking for the old ones.

I plan to completely redo the whole thing tomorrow. I'm going to clear out all the files from my FSX install and reinstall the objects with textures one by one back to their original position. Then I will recompile the ADEX file. That way the ADEX bgl will be looking for the correct object bgls and textures. It's a lot of work but I see no other way to make sure that all the objects show up where I have them positioned.

Before I upload it a second time, I'll ask Rami to take down the present zip. This sure gives me a whole new appreciation for all the freeware scenery developers. It is a very time consuming task.

@ Michael, the mesh most likely affects the flattens. It is much more detailed than the default mesh. But adjusting would be simple, if there are only a few flatten polys to correct.

Choosing to use the mesh is a strategic move towards the Korean scenarios - for other dev's too. Either all use it or not, otherwise there will be constant elevation problems or sceneries need to be deactivated so the mesh won't show on places where it causes elevation problems...

@ Randy, the static helos should be no problem, historically. I've read that the real MASH units had the helos with the neccessary personell attached to their units and there was usually always one landing pad populated with an emergency helo as a "hot spare" in case it was needed.

Cheers,
Mark

Randy I could not check if anything was missing. I was going too fast!:icon_lol:

Regardless, it looks great both from afar and down low! Now to fly a chopper in.

...If this approach fails, I will spend tomorrow completely redoing the whole thing. There is a pretty good possibility that it won't work.
No need for a complete redo.
I got the patch and put the *.bgls and textures where they belong. That fixed the missing lights, but, the Latrine and Camp Sign were still MIA.
A few minutes with ADE revealed different GUIDs in the latrine.BGL, and mashsign.BGL, from what the M001_ADEX_ADE.BGL was calling for.
I noted their original locations with position markers, added the new latrine and sign to the ADE library, and placed them where they belong. Compile, refresh scenery, Viola!

I'm off again. Hot Lips refused a ride in my Jeep. Musta been 'cuz this one has a top! VRROOOOOOOMMMM.....YEEEHAAAAA...WHAM...oops...Don

Hi,

I work on the 4077 Bus and a high-res mesh (DEM) for most of the Korean peninsula.

The DEM work is progressing nicely and it seems that there are no topological anomalies that usually come with processing the relatively raw satellite data. Randy gave me a set of coordinates - N38*9.22' E127* 8.67' - I suspect that this is near a river bend in a mountainous region about 40 klicks to the north of Uijongbu.
See encircled area on the image (the vertical scale of the DEM is exaggerated, doesn't really look like that).

Michael, Randy, is my assumption OK? If so I'll process the geotiffs with the resampler and give you guys a link for the mesh BGL!

Cheers,
Mark

Mark, RD sent me the link for the mesh, yet I see no mountains like on this image, not even close, it is flat with a few plateaus, can you verify when you get a chance?

I too noticed that the Welcome to 4077 sign was missing in the latest and greatest version. Glad to know it will find its way back to the compound. :icon_lol:

TuFun, that was pretty cool to watch! I was expecting the MASH theme music at the intro though, LOL.

I think I need to make RD some personnel though, looks like the all bugged out, LOL.

Tufun,

Was that the FS Northwest Bell 47 in your video? If Randy could borrow a page from ORBX and add the people to the scenery that would be great but that is only a pipe dream.
I too was almost thinking the MASH theme was going to play. Oh well.

MCD, they are all out looking for that dagburn sign and a place to relieve themselves. For those of you'll who know how to use ADEX like FXSTTCB you can find then. Otherwise, maybe tomorrow they'll show up.

Dimus, a recovery crew got the single malt btw. Thanks. Stop in the "O" club when you come back in a helicopter. That is if the darn "O" club is still there.

TuFun that was a cool video.

...I've just uploaded the file. I didn't get any error messages so I guess it will be available as soon as the upload moderator approves it.

Here's a screen shot for the young man who wanted to see the Bell H-13 coming into the heli pad. It's in Korea; not, Malibu, California.

RD

Where did you get the Bell H-13 chopper? Proper chopper for M*A*S*H flights.

Thanks guys on the video... was done real quick like and I would add the MASH theme, but copyright stuff you know.

Don, I wonder if you could post an attachment of your new ADEX_ADE.BGL. That sure would save me a lot of time if everyone who has downloaded this scenery could just pop in that new file. I would but, I've already made changes to mine.

It's flysimware's Bell 47. I really like it. Actually I've been considering doing a MASH scenery ever since I got it.

RD....
The helo will be great.....
Just adding the Tents to the scenery now......
I decided to give it a try and add the whole scenery as one......
Have most everything else in, i'm still looking for someplace to put the motor pool.....
Sorry guys, their are no signs in the scenery for the different buildings.....

I will include the Military map so everyone can find things like the PX, Officers club, NCO Club, Bowling alley, snack bar, Dispensary, etc. (Note: some of these may not look the way they should, But with limited buildings, I was working with what I have.....
There is plenty of aircraft parking and many helicopter pads all over the airport.....4 fire stations, and a large hospital with helo ads around it....
I will post some screens of it this afternoon......
With luck it will be finished tonight or tomorrow....:salute:

I've been looking at FlySimware myself, but at that time I didn't like the pilot in the model. Since it's been updated with a proper pilot, will have to added to my chopper fleet.

One thing I forgot to add to the video was a pair of Sabre fly over using Section 8 Sabre!

I don't think you will be disappointed with the helicopter. A fly by from a couple Sabres will really be the thing. I really like what you do with videos.

So are you interested in the FS Northwest Bell 47?

I have found some nice WW2 era jeeps done by other peeps but they are for CFS2, they even have a horn with lights. Wish it could be converted to fs9/FSX.
