Revisiting the Cloud 9 Phantom porting issue..

I've been trying for a couple days now to get this working in FSX. After installing the Beta 5, I can only see the clean and QFD paints, and the new vc textures don't seem to work. I followed all of the instructions in the beta, but still no dice. I'm running in DX10 mode, which might explain the textures, but the sudden and unexplainable lack of the other models is beyond me
 
SH427 ...the updates use a renamed air file....you may need to check the entries in the aircraft.cfg as the 'sim=' entries are now sim=C9F4_QRAv2 [they were sim=C9F4] ...;)

...and don't forget all the panel=X entries too ...;)

I'm running DX10 with Steve's Fixer and everything seems pretty fine with the Beta 5 version for me.

I do have a question for the forum though... my FPS on exterior views could be better. Is there any upside in converting everything to DTX3, DTX5, adding MIPS..???? Haven't tried an FS9 port-over before so I don't know if there's a trick to getting them to run efficiently in FSX. My VC is good. It's the spot views that are lagging (which is usual for me, it's normally the other way around).

Odourboy et al, thanks for the help. I ended up moving all the models unto the clean folder and adding the complete list of aircraft to the clean aircraft.cfg.
(63 entries And they all work)
The vc now works too after adding the replacement textures to all the skins manually.

Odourboy, I have a good working copy of photoshop, I'll try seeing what converting the textures does this weekend

Doublecool - that radar scope looks great - what files are you using?

TuFun - your video demo-ing the AB. How do you film with the camera set on ground while flying the flyby? I am so impressed at the SOUND on those passes - just like an airshow I remember at Andrews AFB or Biggin Hill - the sound fades and drops to a low rumble as you watch the plane get farther away (and the two glowing dots of the AB get smaller). It is a tremendously realistic effect to watch and listen. Whose J79 files are you using in that video?



expat alot of toying around but this is what I ended up with and I got the idea from Captain Sim Weather Radar and there 737 model both payware
I copied the Captain_Sim.x737.wrx.dll file over to panel x folder I believe the 707 has the same dll file
you must add the weather radar as a 2d popup so you can turn on and ajust WXR settings... do this by running CS Payware WXR_Editor and add to Cloud9 clean panel.x folder...Control 7 should bring up the 2D popup in the VC Panel.CFG file should look like this after

Doublecool - thanks for the reply. I have the CS707 so will give that a try. Also have installed the ARS 4 (AI a/c and ship) radar successfully.

I was hoping someone would be able to respond without actually having to work at it! But I look forward to your results. FWIW, I noticed that my 'jolly' texture runs about 2 FPS faster than my "57" texture. The "jolly" textures are all .BMP. The ""57" textures are a mix of DDS (DTX5) and BMP, but are mostly 4X larger (double the resolution). I don't think either uses MIPS.

On the topic of RADAR. For anyone looking for other options, the JF DC6 offers an interesting radar that I've ported for use in an old AS F-101 Voodoo VC. It comes with a nice control screen that can be configured as a pop-up.

AOA Indexer lights

Does anyone else have non-functioning AOA Indexer lights in their VC with the Beta 5 gauges?
