This archive contains files to create a model of the Boulton Paul Sea Balliol for FS9/FSXpo.
The UK Ministry of Defence issued a specification T14/47 for a two seat advanced trainer powered by a Rolls Royce Merlin 35. These were readily available from stocks left after the build up during the war.
Boulton Paul were asked to build four T2 Balliols. The first, VW897 flew on the 10th of July 1948 and was well- liked.
The Balliol design suited Navy requirements so VR598 was modified with an arrestor hook, strengthened landing gear and other modified parts needed for its role with the Fleet Air Arm . Folding wings, desirable on a carrier based aircraft, had always been part of the original design
All together, 31 Sea Balliols were used by the F.A.A. mainly for practising deck landings, communications aircraft and hacks.
