This repaint shows the Pfalz D.IIIa flown by Vizefeldwebel Max von Holtzem when he flew with Jasta 16b spring 1918. Von Holtzem's nickname was "the Bavarian Comet". The 'comet' insignia symbolized 'doomsday'. Von Holtzem survived the war and later he emigrated to the USA where he took part in P-51 production. I want to thank Stuart Green for his incredible Pfalz D.IIIa model.
