perfect! thanks Race Control, I may be able to work all the flights in now before the end of May.

Now, let's see if I remember how to land a P-38 on a carrier :mixedsmi:

Hey all,

I'm in for this one flying the A2A B17g.

Cheers,
Dusty

Dusty;
I will also be flying the A2A B-17G AccuSim version (do you have that?)
Also, are you a "day" flier or an "evening" flier? I have more "free time"
during the day and, as we are both in the same time zone, thought we
might fly together. Post me a PM if you are interested.
A lot of legs are 30 min and one hour, several two hour and the last one
is a five hour flight.. Ought to be fun!
Let me know.

Duenna Posts

Need to find out where, on SOH, the Duenna's are to be posted. Is there a
special "forum" for them, or a special URL to use? (I've not seen any site named,
linked, etc.)
It's getting close to time.. sorta need this info 'bout now to be prepared.
Also, will SOH have an MP Server for us to use for these flights? Or do we
just "fly at home" alone, in the dark, by candle light?:kilroy:
Might be more fun to have some company (and not the leggy flight hostess
on board! :icon_lol:)

When the race begins, start a thread here in this forum. Call it "DHC120's Pacific Race" or some such. Place all your race posts and duenna files there. We do have an MP server. See http://www.sim-outhouse.net/forum/

Subj: Available Aircraft Carriers

1) In addition to the USS Saratoga, the US Navy would like to announce that there are two other carriers in the area of the race. The USS Lexington (CV-2) is located in the Coral Sea and USS Langely (CVL-29) is located in NW Solomons near AGGN.

2) USS Lexington is available as Lexington World Cruise here at SOH under Mick and USS Langely from MAAM. There is an additional file available at the MAAM to locate the Langely in the Solomons.

3) Should anyone really be interested in doing more carrier landings, there is a Nimitz class carrier (ArrCab) and another Lexington (from the world cruise) near Sydney, Australia.

4) Lexington World Cruise available here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/page.php?lloc=downloads&loc=downloads&page=info&FileID=6276

somewhere high over the south pacific, a ferry flight from the states is nearing its destination...

my next question is regarding
the Shift+Z longitude/latitude readout.
what do you all think about that?
i guess it could be justified
by calling it the navigator's readings.

I thought about that, because, thats where i cheat and get my wind... i had a panel wind gauge that i dont know if thats cheating since it doesnt render any technology of the period. as for the lon/lat readings, well, they are too much work to get that and plot it on amap, so, i dont even pay attention to those readings.

how far back 'does' wind gathering apparatus go? how accurate 'was' it?

all that said,
i think this is going to be
a heck of a lot of fun.
i am really looking forward to it.

most definitely.... i wont be able to start until the 1st, anyways, im really looking forward to this one as well...

good luck gents!!!

I use SHIFT-Z to get my wind data also. It would be cheating to use the LAT/LON info to precisely locate yourself on a map, but it's also a bit of work to do it. Not much to be done there. You can do it, but it will take away much of the fun! Gauges that tell you the wind speed and direction are ok for this event.

Here's my FSX entry, in the bomber class: Dave Garwood's beautiful Bristol Beaufighter, in RAAF colors, err, I mean colours. :)

Gentlemen, it's now past 0000 GMT, 29 April 2011. You may start your flights when ready.

How about the A-26B Invader

Thinking about throwing my hat in the ring here with the Sim-Outhouse A-26B. Not a lot of time to research and test various aircraft. Just looking for a reason to fly.

It would have to have been in operation by July 1944, and I don't think the Invader came on the scene until later 1944.

granted, i am not an authority,
but, if it was up to me,
i'd say go ahead and fly it.
i think it would be nice
to see that beauty in the event.

but, i'm not into this as a competition.
for me, it's about the WWII aircraft
and completing the legs.
just my opinion

Granted, it would be nice to see a A-26 flying, but rules are rules. Like Smilo, I am just in for the fun of it.
