A Lockheed "Rounder"

now i have the fore fuselage at a point where all it needs is it's FS9 alpha channel to bring it to life....

ok fuselage is nearly prepared for FS Alpha Channel and sim checking... but first i really want to get the rest of the parts done, i think you'll agree it's different... i'm of the genre that aren't fans of photoreal... the metal effect seen here on the fuselage is a hand drawn metal gradient, to which i'll then add panel toning etc... but as i say it's shaping up.... ignore any other reflections you see here, as i work i'm replacing them with my altered textures :)

As you make the shadow blend more gradient-like, I suspect it will look more realistic. Thanks for the out-of-the-box thinking. :)

yeah that's my thinking also, combined with the fact that the Alpha Channels desaturate slightly in trade off for reflectivity... combine the desaturation and reflectivity and them 'reflections' will be more subtle looking... at least that's the theory.... the sim test late tonight will tell....:salute:

well..... here's a small update, brought the tail and wings back in.... still got to sort smoothing the gradient out on the nose but apart from that she's shaping up.... just wings, cowls and tail unit to sort now.... :jump:

my pleasure, one of these days i'll get to recording my new video tutorial series for Painting, let you see 'behind the scenes' as it were...

currently wings, engines are now recoloured and looking right just to remove the Trainer Yellow tail unit and replace it with one scrubbed of paint....

i think Milton Deserves one of these for his bookshelf/desk... the much coveted Golden Harpoon Award (Created this earlier while i was messing with the reflections)... also we see the Bare Metal paint, currently just adding the Alpha Channels and deciding whether i want to paint a version as a pathfinder....

well... her tyres have finally left the ground... she's had a shakedown... you eagle eyed will notice the lighter parts on the cowl underside... that's just to stop any more chips developing and is a less 'polished' section... i decided to add it quite late... so without further ado... here's a plain bare metal bird for ya's....

LOL How cool is that! :applause:

The screenshot of the right looks great with the effects Matt.
:applause:

Matt,

That turned out great! Very interesting. We really need to do something about those pesky rockets and tanks though.

I am thinking about dropping both the rockets and tanks but leaving the hardpoints.

Anyone want to weigh on on that idea?

i assume we're not talking about a raid on a Panzer division or Peenemunde here? :icon_lol:

i think a stripped down version too would be pretty neat... i can easilly ammend the shading layers on the master PSD's so there's no subtle shadows from the guns, rockets Etc... it'd mean i could paint some camera bays onto it and we'd have an ideal Recce bird too!..... either that or paint it to look like a VIP bird...

Matt,

I sent you links yesterday to the pre-beta package which has the stripped down version, and a version with guns/no tanks.

EDIT: Let's hear from others to see if they can live without the actual rockets mounted, and without the wing tanks. I do not mind having a version of them; they just look out of place somehow. lol

EDIT: Also, I think I should remove the wipers from the military versions. I have seen no pictures with wipers installed strangely enough. Your thoughts?

will download them now then hit the sack... 1am here.... in addition.... the Yellow peril is 90% done....

Here are some cool liveries.....

Curious as to what those are under the wings in one of the pics. Reminds me of a quail drone.

For Matt. :icon29:

Since you are asking Milton, my order of preference would be:

1) Clean version without hardpoints.

2) Clean (no rocket hardpoints), but with droptanks. I like to do a lot of long range flying and to replicate the Aleutians to the Kuriles and back missions for example would require tanks.

3) Clean but with the hardpoints in place (as you mention above).

I can live without the rockets but missing a tank version would be a bummer. :kilroy:

Well, since you're asking; I'd like to see

1) fully loaded
2) guns, tanks, rocket rails w/o rockets
3) guns, no tanks, rocket rails w/o rockets
4) clean, no guns or stores

Is that too many options?

I respectfully second Moses03's request

For Matt. :icon29:

I'm no big fan of rockets either. I'm with Moses although I would like to see a couple of torpedoes in the bomb bay :d. Anti-shipping is what the Harpoon is all about.

BTW, 3 of wbuchart's pics are of PV-1 Venturas.
