A Lockheed "Rounder"

Got the 6 variants redone, unfortunately 2 with configuration errors on my part. :-/

Nigel has sent the sound pack ... great stuff!

Fliger has continued improvements on the flight model ... on the numbers and handles beautifully.

Tank drops work great thanks to Robt. Sanderson's gauge.

TG72 has sent some reference pics for the fire tanker, more expected, and hope to start that tomorrow.

I have looked through all my data and do not have a 3-view to model teh "D" nose. Anyone have access to that model variant 3-view or an excellently positioned side-view picture.

Hi Milton,
My Tracker is well advanced, if you're still interested I'll agree to start a painting of the French Navy on your beautiful Lockheed. Congratulations to you and Matt for what you are doing is great.

Hi Marty :)

I look forward to the ConAir paint scheme. Send it along to me and I will package up the S2Turbo PT-6A variant for testing. Thank you. :jump:

I know from your messages and pictures that you shared that you have wanted to paint the Harpoon in French Navy for some time. As soon as we get these alpha tests done and I feel good about no more exterior modifications, we can make it available to you.

Thank you for your interest in this project. :jump:

interesting it has the 6-point roundel placement.... for those who are not familiar there is 2 point, 4 point and 6 point roundel placement... 2 point is just on the sides, 4 point is sided plus 1 on a topside wing, 1 on a lowerside wing... and 6 point is fuselage and wing topsides and undersides... do we know the closest colour to what this bird was? as a similar colour cannot be spotted in my KLU Colour swatch... (Currently had to mix and Match for best guesstimate)

[h=3][/h][h=3]Marine Luchtvaart Dienst (MLD) - Naval Aviation Service[/h][h=3][/h][h=3]MLD 1945 to Today, NATO (STANAGs, Standardization Agreements)[/h] After the war the Dutch continued their aircraft carrier experience with three (technically two) aircraft carriers and war missions flying British-supplied Hawker Sea Furies. Eventually the capability shifted to anti-submarine warfare and patrolling. Due to progressive budget cuts, only some ship-born helicopters remain to this day.
Apart from some late war dark blue models, most planes used the two-tone NATO scheme, with either a high or low demarcation line between colours.

Additional colour notes
With the Canada-supplied Trackers, it should be noted that the Canadian names for the quoted colours were "Dark Sea Grey" for Extra Dark Sea Grey and "Light Sea Grey" for Medium Sea Grey.
Following aircraft types ware painted in silver aluminium lacquer overall: Douglas DC-3 Dakota (except ex-KLu machines), Navigator TC-45, later also Taylorcraft Auster, Consolidated PBY Catalina and Martin Mariner. Dakotas had blue bands above windows. Some Catalinas had black hull bottoms.
Many immediate post-war deliveries carried WW2 camouflages (see KLu 1942-1945). These got a gloss coat and/or were changed to the schemes discussed in this section.

thanks Nigel, i'd completely forgotten about the site you found those on :icon_lol: running round like a headless chicken at the moment... got a lot to sort out, my new photography equipment to test, getting my sorry a$$ back into shape (The usual 5mi run in morning and evening, 100 press-ups every other hour etc...) and other activities eating into my much loved 'development time'... but rest assured folks... she's getting there, should have a Harpoon preview in NL. colours before 2200GMT

still.... as was written by Shakespeare in Henry V (Act III) "Once More Unto the breech dear friends, once more!"

ok... base colour on fuselage has been layed in, several layers beefed up in visibility ready for Alpha channel later on.... ignore the wing tanks for now, time to put some Markings on the ole' girl :salute:

neg in 3DS max for basics, once i get closer i sort the .cfg then open it in MCX for previewing finals, once it's done i'll set about creating all the models to the .3ds format because i can see me painting Harpoons for a long while to come... :icon_lol:

OOO!!! A really sinister looking Harpoon. A far cry from the bright yellow target tug scheme. All she needs now is red cockpit light illumination for that really "scarey", menacing appeal...:icon_lol:

Speaking of cockpit lights, anyone know for certain if the gauge lighting was a subdued natural (off white) or red. I know in the Howard 500, we used eyebrow lights and we gave them a kind of golden-tannish hue.

I have not done the night lighting yet as I am waiting to complete the panel setup.

Speaking of cockpit lights, anyone know for certain if the gauge lighting was a subdued natural (off white) or red.

I've always been ignorantly curious about gauge lighting for WWII aircraft. Did they have true lighting or just radium-painted dials?

If voting's involved in the gauge-lighting color, chalk me up as being anti-red. Can't see those things worth a hoot. Guess it's my old eyes.

I'm all for red. Red lighting is what the surface Navy uses inside it's ships at night in order to preserve night vision out on the decks.

based on time frame..would red lighting even be a choice then? i like the Grizzlys cockpit..white backlighting..
