A2A Piper Cub Released!

While looking for P-47D info, I stumbled across Jack Payne's Cub that he and Paul Nielson purchased in the early 1960s to use for aerial photography. They named their compant the Sylvania Air Photo Service and it was based t Lincoln Park Air Port in new Jersey.

Uploaded this past hour.

Excellent :applause:

Sorry to pick your brains but I cant find the bit that appears to be yellow here on a paint Im trying to finish - do you know where it is?

Good grief, there are already more repaints for this than I can find for my favourite Flight Replicas Cub! I have such fun with her, but my resolve that 'I don't need another Cub' is weakening.

A cut'n'paste from 'tother side...

I said "IT" stays on my box - I didn't say I wouldn't upload the base skin. Gawd it aint arf easy to wind some folk up, innit? :D If you'd all looked at the RW one, you'd 'ave seen that it was a loose "based upon" and that the RW one is literally littered with sponsor logos that were fairly difficult to ID. Also I said I was waiting to see if Scott G spotted the A2A "Bumper Gal" and if he had anything agin it.

Thin skinned bunch of sentsitives...

AND NOW - notice the  - just as I did in some of the other posts. First one takes a pinch of salt....

I'll do a spot of rework. Besides - there are plenty of great painters around that are doing the Cub - some great paints too. Keep it up guys!

Again:    :) :) :)

gajit,

This is on the upper wings in the "Detail" Layer on the Paint Kit.

You can change the Image Size with either the MS Image Tool or using DXTBitmap (free from Martin Wright Graphics) to open the image and take it into your Graphics Editor. If you have none, just use MS Paint to resize, then "X" out, click Tes and reload the resized image into DXTBitmap. Note; You need to carry the Alpha over to your Graphics Editor also and resize it and reload it back into DXTBitmap before saving the Image.

Thanks. I think maybe I've done it right with the first file, expect: I've merged the two 1024 .bmp's in Dxtbmp (alpha and normal) and I don't know how to save it. Like DDS DXT5?

I assume the files should be saved as 24bit images in the image editor (I'm using Paint.NET) after resizing?

Just finished a flight from Plymouth to Alderney.. really nice :jump: And Heidi survived :blind:
Thanks for the great repaint, Tim!:applause:
I hope there will be much more :running:

BTW, could someone please give me some hints regarding the battery of the radio?

You really do not have to merge them in DXTBitmap, just make sure both are the same size and save as DDS DXT5, which should be the default A2A format for FSX.

That is some kick butt scenery Nils, mind letting us on to what it is?

Hi Caz,
it's Horizon's VFRGenX + VFR Airfields 1 + Alderney = very nice area to fly :mixedsmi:

Thanks for your great repaints! :applause:Downloading now :running:

Well I finally bought this thing.... it's decent so far, probably not my favorite addon purchase though. Heidi can get a little annoying haha

And I feel some of the sound effects in the cockpit are a little over-exaggerated

But the feel is all there and it's nice you can break stuff

Here's my first intentional bad landing lol

Hi Cazzie - nop - not there! I used a pink to block the whole area and it stilled showed up yellow!!

Sorry mate, I took it to be the aileron canle house and it looked red, nit yellow, ergo, it's back to the layers. Is that top wing or bottom?

Caz

Its ok - found it Cazzie thanks. Meanwhile I've busted me prop!! Amazing damage model :applause:

I just figured it out. Thanks :ernae:

After reducing the textures from 4096 to 1024 I get a noticeable fps boost and sharper scenery. I did the same on the P-47, which also flies a lot more smoother now. Great!

Great shots in this thread :applause:

Speaking about resizing you should try to resize the fuse and fuse-bump only to 2048 instead goeing to 1024 directly. 2048 already lightens the load immensly cutting the texture load by over 24MB (from ~85MB to ~60MB total for a floater) but still preserves the detail. With 1024 the fine lines are getting jaggy and DXT issues are popping up.
