A6M2N "Rufe" sinks

SOH-CM-2023
Nakajima A6M2N "Rufe" fighter Floatplane for CFS2.

This is a very nice plane by Gerald Lindell, but it either sinks on spawning or in some cases bounces right into the air on spawning. I know there is a problem with the contact points, I just don't know where to check. Could someone show me what to check?

Hi Stoney,

The bounce problem happens with all sea planes because they are not starting from a water runway.

If you do an air start does it sink on landing?

Regards,
B24Guy

I would try making the aircraft start higher up (static_cg_height) and hope CFS2 doesn't think that you crashed from the drop at the start.

Thanks guys. Lands and floats fine after air start. I'll try fine tuning the static hight, I hadn't thought of that. Allen.

Stoney,
Those dadgum sneaky USN SEAL predecessors! They must have swum in under water last night and poked holes in the front of the floats...........

The other thing you can do, if they have wheels, is start on land. Floatplanes work fine from a land base if they have wheels.

I've never used a Rufe as a player aircraft so never had occasion to fly one.

Thanks guys. I never really got her working like she should. I switched to Akemi's mz-a6m2n, which works well for me when flying around the Aleutians. Still, I wonder why make an otherwise excellent float plane that won't float?!

Well the old squirrel brain just stared working. Why it sinks when starting from a water runway is because it has landing gear. Try removing point.0 to point.2.

I dunno Allen. I did remove point.0 to point.2 and now the beach trolley gear shows when trying to make a water start.
