Aero L-39 Albatros

By the way, I'm somewhat surprised looking at the configs of the external cams. Is that supposed to be an eastereg? I mean configs like that...

InitialXyz = -5.0007290840148926, -0.30008047819137573, 1.21154022216796875
InitialPbh = 0, 0, 75.322265625

How do you come up with such values? :bump:

One of the ways to get camera positions is to put them where you like and then save a flight, then extract them from the saved flight file. That's what I did in that case. It was likely 3am when I did it, so probably forgot to tidy them up haha.

Nick, sorry I see your point now. Leaving the 2D radios stuff out of the manual was an omission which I will add to the FAQ. As for the autopilot I guess I never gave that much thought since the L-39 isn't supposed to have one at all, being a very limited range trainer etc. I think I used it only during high altitude range / fuel flow testing, so I could go and have dinner. :)

Cheers,

-Mike

I just want to shake your hand, leg, kiss both your cheeks, and rain chocolate down on your house every christmas because this L-39 has pushed FSX to a level I don't think x-plane will ever touch! the whole Training seat, the Multiplayer Display team model (Praise to you btw we do that a lot!) not to mention the real to life feel with a steady FPS rating... It made me cry the first time I ran it, just wow! Wow.

I even made a short video..

I have done with my first repaint:

Thanks very much Tim. The bridge bit is great in the video. Sometimes I think the Golden Gate exists in FSX simply for the purpose of being played with hehe. Not that I've ever done anything like that in a movie before of course... :kilroy:

Sorry the G-load got you in the end, gets me sometimes too still.

Btw, your namesake coffee shop here in Canada has gotten me through a couple of late nights on this project.

I can't seem to stop flying Pipsqueak, is there any remedy for this??

"Hey, where'd all my fuel go?"

That's what typically ends my flights in it. I always forget about the lack of tip tanks. Trim for best glide, deploy RAT, hydraulic interconnect.... now... where's a runway? :)

Thanks Nick.

Hello,
Can you explain to me how to use the trim with L-39?
With my other planes I have levers to play with trims but with L-39 I don't know how to use them.

Anybody could help me ?

Best regards, Olivier.

Hi Olivier. You should only need to use pitch trim in the L-39, just to adjust the pitch tendency of the plane a you speed up or slow down. Just assign some buttons to your joystick for this in FSX through the settings > controls menu. The settings are Elevator trim up, and elevator trim down.

The trim is very fine, so you will sometimes need to hold the trim buttons down or press them several times to get it where you want it, and you will need to change it quite often in flight, like in any other high performance plane. The real L-39 has a trim switch on the stick, but it's impractical to model this in an FSX VC, just too tough to use with a mouse.

Cheers,

-Mike

Hello Mike,

I would like to thank you for your help, now I know where is the trim with the real L-39.
I would have a last question concerning the lever for speed-brakes, for the real L-39 this command is also on the stick ?

Otherwise, you would know where I can find a plan or a cutaway for L-39 (link on the web) ?

PS: Once again, great work with this addon. I really like the L-39.

Best regards, Olivier.

The speed brake switch on every fighter that I know of is on the throttle. I have it set on my throttle and didn't even look to see where it was on Lotus' model. I am going to assume it is on the throttle.

Yes that's right, and it's a thumb switch on the L-39's throttle as well, but because it's very small and almost impossible to click with a mouse I have not made the switch active. To use the speed brakes you can use the forward slash key "/" or assign a joystick button or slider for it.

That answers my next two questions which were on the VC trim and speedbrake. In fact I think that answers all the remaining queries I had. :applause:

Actually I just thought of another question I have. In the planes that are not equipped with tip tanks, would the warning light on the panel not be disabled?
