And now you all know why I wrote the disclaimer earlier in this thread about Smoothie's new paints going to be a lot more detailed than mine. Don't go thinking I'm going to match his level of detail and weathering.

Yeah, you could say the same for the good old Bucc as well in the first Gulf War - we're always phasing out 'old tech' that comes in handy when the real shooting starts. All this modern crap doesn't fair as well as the tried and tested stuff. Well, some of it needs a little dusting off (thinking of Vulcans in the Falklands) but it's worth having them around. The Jag is a classic; glad it's getting the attention it deserves here.

You're right...the Jag does deserve attention...unfortunately for her, I'm the one who laid eyes on her LOL! I'm treating her like a trailer park prom date...cheap beer, stale cigarettes and a ride in the back of my rusty pick up truck.

Doing some flight testing with the new FDE set.....max speed is right on spec (Mach1.6 at 36 thousand feet). Cruise is looking good as well....80% RPM, 5500 feet is producing 560knots ground speed....roughly 610MPH....with a total fuel burn of 60 gallons per minute (360 pounds per minute). I am quite happy with those specs.

Now I need to do the landing and ground behavior testing....and I am a really poor aircraft lander for the most part.

Small world, I remember that exercise well, I was on an advanced driving course at the time and we parked up to watch.. I clearly recall A10's and their devastating firepower as they blew the beach to smithereens.
 
well wraparound camo is complete for the GR1/3 series, paintkit works on Both so i'm happy about that, next thing to do is finalise the pylons etc... and actually push it out of my hangar and test fly it :icon_lol: :salute:
 
I checked my e-mail...and I got a reply from KBT. They gave me the green light to use the aircraft.cfg and air file from their Mitsubishi F-1 (the license built Japanese version of the Jaguar) in this project. I have been testing and testing....and so far it looks very promising. The ground behavior is so sweet now...though the plane will still tip over if you try to turn her too quickly or if you don't keep your ground roll speed under control.

Flying this bird is now a joy! She is right on or very close to specified speeds.

I have a few people who are testing the new FDE set to see how she handles in the hands of people who actually know how to fly jets....I just crash them. Outside of a couple possible issues, reports have been good.

When I swapped in the F-1 FDE set in to the Jag, I pulled the plane up in ACM to adjust the contact points and found that the virtual model and the visual model were lined up....and that the contact point locations needed only minor adjustments. The F-1 FDE set was a better fit for the Jag than the original Alpha set.

I am doing my best to make the Jag fly as good as possible, without messing up that wonderful KBT flight package...we all know how well their planes fly.

I like the engines off addtions. Can't wait to fly her. Here's hoping we don't have to wait too long for a soundset to match...
 
The "engines off" additions have always been there. Very nice touches on this plane for sure.

It's odd how different people on different systems can get very different results from the same files. One person who is testing the new FDE files reported that his Jags roll to the left and will not climb higher than 27 thousand feet. Another has reported that his AP altitude hold does not work. On my system, the Jag does not roll to the left, climbs to 36,000 feet easily and the AP system works like a charm. How odd!

Myself have black screen when going in external view (the restauration mod V2)
Original Alphasim models work like a charm :jump:

Go figure ....
