Army Otter

I suppose I shouldn't mention it now....:gossip: but there's a semi-complete TTC otter paintkit (.psd format) that I found - blotter.zip at ( I think) FlightSim. For the panel lines for a PZL I just did a cut/paste of the nose section from the "Neutral white" paint of the original flaot download back to the vertical line ahead of the cockpit door and replaced the TTC nose in the paintkit with the PZL.. seems to work fine although I had to play a bit with the shaded area where the PZL nose rounds in behind the engine.

Mustang51,
Was with the 18th Avn Co, (FWLT), Low, slow & reliable, at Ft Riley 1960, 1961 then unit shipped out to Nam in 1962 with 21 of our Otters. Shipped from San Francisco aboard the USNS Core. Were you one of us?:ernae:

The above 18th Avn Co emblem was placed on the side of the engine cowling. Just in case a new US army otter is created. (I hope).

Thanks for the HU, Rob!
Too late for me indeed, as I made my own layers for the RCAF 9408.
But it still will be useful for the upcoming TVA Coastie job.

...a TVA Coast Guard Pzl. A TVA # 009 stationed Loran Attu, AK.
Yeah! Splendid idea, Tim! :applause:
The Aleuts around CGS Casco Cove once were one of my favourite areas back in the days of FS02. I think I could still find my way from Adak to Attu via Shemya with my eyes closed...
Is there any chance to get the graphic file of the TVA "live buoy" emblem?
Couldn't find it on the TVA sites.

Semper Paratus,
Markus.

:welcome: Hey, Mustang51. Sid Perrine here. e-mail : aviationace1@aol.com. I worked in control tower at Marshall AAF and Nha Trang tower. Shipped out from Nha Trang on 12 Dec 62 to the Yuma Proving Grounds, AZ. We have a web site - google : Otters nest. I found a flt sim painter and provided him with 18th Otter photos and info and he produced an 18th Otter for me. Send your e-mail and I'll send an attachment - it's pretty dang good. Can't figure out how to send attahments from this site. I'm in touch with Ron Gorden one of our crew chiefs. Have a 33 Export Bombeba on me.........Sid.........:ernae:

sbp....wonder how many here have tasted the wonderful woody flavor of 33 Bombeba and the great thing it does the next day. :ernae: :help:

"Classic" Otter out now!

Dear gents,

my repaint of Steven Grant's Otter was just delivered to AVSIM and the SOH library.
Filename is csr-123_9407.

Although the model is slightly outdated and has some strange 'panoramic' front windows, it's still a true Otter!
With redone panel lining (thanks again for your help, Jan!) and some shadowing, I tried to get the most of this model, as far as my abilities allowed...

Now my paint shed is free for the 'special requested' Transvirtual Coast Guard PZL Otter. Stay tuned!

Cheers,
Markus.

Thanks Markus!... 407 is now on the ramp beside 408 :ernae:

Any chance you'll be posting the paintkits too?

Markus, would you consider doing one in U.S. Army livery, just a generic O.D. paint?

Thanks,

pointy

Ok Wildbill.....that's the paint job.
Get rid of the red paint. White cross from tip to tip and leading edge back to vert. fin. The whole airplane is polished OD and tail number in yellow is 2222.
Thanks much Bill hope to download next week sometime.
Bob

White cross on the top. Each arm about 8" wide. It helped in finding then when down in the jungle. Spent about 6hrs looking for one on Christmas day, did not find them.
Now this is what a macho Otter looks like.
Keep up the good work Bill.
Bob

O.K. Bob,
I think I'm getting closer.
Serial is to be 2222? Just four digits?
All the pics I found up to now show five digits...
Unfortunately no pic of the upper surfaces.

Any template for the crest on the cowling?

Hi Bob,

Jim Whittle has made some progress on the 18th web site. May be worth a look see. See above link.

have another 33 Export "Bombeba" on me. I actually have an unopened bottle of the stuff in my display case. Bought it at a local Thai restaurant awhile back.
:ernae:

Cheers,

Sid "Ace" Perrine
