AS F-4 Phantom

F-4 B/J Fan

Wasn't much of an RF-4 fan. I am former F-4B/J Phixer. Like to see more of the US Navy F-4 B/J variations.
Would of been nice touch to see a flightsim version of the F-4 on the cat with nose strut raised with cat bridle
ready for the cat shot.

I can't find a picture of the RF-4B cockpit interior anywhere.

Help! I'm becoming a geek.....

Dave
Ditto, Dave...;)

I may be forced to 'paint' the missing bits from scratch....but I much prefer adapting from photos....so things are closer to 'photoreal'.

Expat....DL..... what are your res defaults?

If these days most are using 1920x1080 it'd be easy enough to rejig the panel.cfg to match.

I also think there 'should' be a method to physically 'tie' relevant windows together so they don't resize seemingly randomly....I mean...the several 'windows' used to paint the 2D are ALL THE SAME RES ...but in windowed mode they do different things....that's either something 'simple' missed...OR a fundamental BUG/Failure in the Coding of FSX [in which case...thanks a bunch, MS].

Just maybe there's something within the section below that needs to be added/changed to solve the 'random' displacement/s...

[Window00]
file=RF4B-Panel.bmp
size_mm=1680,1050
window_size_ratio=1.000
position=7
visible=1
ident=MAIN_PANEL
sizeable=0
moveable=0
render_3d_window=1
window_size= 1.000, 1.000
window_pos= 0.000, 0.000
zorder=4

You'd THINK "moveable=0" would actually DO SOMETHING.... but I believe it's merely an in-joke at our expense....;)

....oh wait.....perhaps "sizeable=0" is what causes windowed mode to go screwy.....must check...;)

I think I've solved the windowed-mode problem....all windows that are defined as 1680x1050 need to have sizeable=0 AND moveable=0 in their config. I just changed the RF4C panel to suit and it windows without displacing alpas etc on the gauges...something I had noticed in the past but mostly don't window...;)

Now to find out what to do re resolutions [again something I don't change]...but even if they distort like a standard 4/3 does for me in 1680 it'd be less bad than having things go wonky...;)

How does this look?

800x600 and in a window...;)

Meanwhile....eeeeeeeeeeeeeek....to think once upon a time that was considered a high res....;)

Edit...
...am back to 1680 [phew] .... what I changed was again...in ALL windows sized at 1680x1050 [as well as the stick window - [18 in the RF4E] ...
sizeable=1
moveable=0

NOW the 2D panel 'behaves'. [although distortion will creep in depending on res proportions - as usual]...;)

By the next panel/pack release I'll get it right - for all ...;)

Meanwhile...back to the 'B'...

Here's the RF4B specific to model.11. Everything's in place gauge-wise, but the camera control panel, etc needs to be fabricated...;)

Just about to buzz off at YMML ...[FSX had crashed after res changes, etc]...;)

And I am on 1920x1080, 32 bit, but Jafo, honestly, don't go to any further trouble on this. You have worked many wonders on this project.

I 'think' the resolution issue is solved....though I did crash and burn changing OS res AND game res on-the-fly whilst the game was running....and then dragging it windowed to different shapes...;)

Advanced camouflage 102 - definitely not for beginners!

Dave

Are you having a conflict with the function of 'render_3d_window', I wonder?

Dave

Perhaps...if I knew what it did...or didn't.

When I start a panel.cfg much of it is copy/paste from my Thud...'cos that's always worked OK [for me]...;)

Dave....I gotta grab that paint, too...;)

The paint is 'asphm597.zip' over at flightsim.com. It's by Andy Nott.

From the SDK: Specifies the type of window on which to render. A value of 1 specifies that the gauge will only render onto a 3-D view window, not a separate window. Note that you won’t be able to undock this panel.

Dave

Dave....got it, thanks...;)

I haven't read the SDK for a while...probably should to see if there's something I missed....;)

Mal998 ...yes, I have the manual...it's the reason why I 'had to do' a third panel for Pack3...it's a fair bit different to the RF4-C... but I didn't see the need for it until I'd dug out those extra 3 models...namely '11' which is an RF4-B ...;)

I think my RF4C panel is my fave....
I found a decent Fuel gauge photo...and stuck it in my gauge...just gotta work out how to space the fuel counter digits in the xml [if there's a way].
Now has a Ground Speed and a TAS [as it should]...though as per original photo the TAS is obscured by the panel light...
Next step is to get those 2 counters circled doing 'something'...;)

OK...the two counters now count....left one is a 4 digit ASI with number strips...and the right is 5 digit alt.

Now that I've worked out the methodology of those...it's time to add ribbon/strip counters to the fuel gauge [as it's supposed to have - not text-fonts] and likewise with the TAS and GS gauges...they weren't digital, either...;)
