OH MY GOD!!! MR SHUPE IS A GREAT MAN!

This is just great!!!! Mr Shupe is indeed a great and talented man! I love the plane!

Cheers

I would be happy to do a civie version for you Markus. Do you have any interior photos? That would be the tough part.

Thank you so much, Sir! :salute:

Maybe there's a chance:
When working on the NZ Aerial Mapping repaints on your Commander

I made contact to a very friendly guy of NZAM who helped me out on some details.
I'll gladly ask him if there's any way to retrieve some more pics (exterior & interior) of this civil Kiwi Kansan.

We shall see!

Cheers,
Markus.

I'd love to see a demilitarized version too! The unobstructed view for a pasenger sitting in the nose would be awesome! Just think of all the imaginary money I could make carrying imaginary people on imaginary chartered air tours around an imaginary Hawaii!:jump:

Wow Milton! She's a beauty!
I'll certainly love to fly the AT-11 just as much as I love to fly the D18S!
Thank you so much for building this gem.

Cheers,
Maarten

which brings up a question for me....in RL....i know we are in reall life..but still...can a person ride in the "nose" of an aircraft..say you has a civilanized version ov the AT-11,an had a seat in the nose for the great view..could a person legally ride there ...on take off and landing?..ive read somewhere and talked to a pilot of a B25 at an airshow who said he wont allow anyone in the nose of his b25 when landing or taking off..but as far as knew knew...it was illegal anyway.....who knows for certin??

The CAF should be able to answer your question. Send them a note.

I can certainly see the reasoning behind the take off and landing restrictions. . .the most critical times of any flight and so on, but once airborne, shouldn't be a problem with that at all unless there are structural concerns with that portion of the aircraft and then. . .well, it probably wouldn't be flying anyway.:salute:

We never manned the P2V's bow observer position (the nose) during takeoffs and landings. I was told it was so nobody would be hurt/killed or trapped inside the plane in the event of a nose gear collapse. The seat was just forward of the nose gear so that sounded logical to me.

Just a bit of useless info :icon_lol: ...... but today I took a guy ( and his wife ) flying in the Ag Cat.

He used to work for New Zealand Aerial Mapping and has spent many hours flying this AT-11.

Interesting time spent talking with him.

Small world eh.

Pete.

What else could I say?
If it has radial engines, a tailwheel and is made by Milton and team - I love it! :jump:

But may I ask a quite impatient question?
Are there any plans for a "civilized" version too?
I have a certain aircraft on my mind...:

It's New Zealand Aerial Mapping's ZK-AHO:
"In 1943, NZAM took delivery of an AT-11 Beechcraft - imported by the RNZAF.
It was the first time a new military aircraft had been passed over to
a private company - thus demonstrating the special link
and trust in Piet van Asch and NZ Aerial Mapping."

That is looking great Milton, and the civil version would certainly be quite neat as well.
My guess would be that if no additional details are available it would be enough to simply remove the bombardier gear in the nose and the ammo in the main fuselage along with the turret.

As for the seat in the nose. It depends on the particular aircraft as for the legality of a passenger riding there. If the position has an approved seating position with seat belts the authorities would be satisfied with it.
But the nose seat was always empty in B25J "In the Mood" for takeoff and landing which I was lucky enough to fly in a couple of times since she was based at my base L67.
The He-111 operated by the CAF (unfortunately crashed a few years ago) also left the nose seat empty for all TO and Landing operations.

I can tell you however that the seat in either airplane is a hoot to sit in during the flight.
Especially if you happen to be in it for a "clearing pass" down the runway. I will freely admit to lifting my rear end involuntarily as 24 came "rushing" up towards me :ernae:

The beta is going well and so far we will be on track for a weekend release, depending on a few gauge changes.

This project was inspired by Taigh Ramey of www.twinbeech.com and these pictures.
