AT-11 Beta This Week

Other than those I've already mentioned to Milton, I've found very little to critique. A beautiful airplane, very enjoyable to fly, frame rates in FS9 are in the mid double-digits and even in FSX (these screens are from FSX) the frame rate is also in double digits. Very impressive and I know folks are going to really enjoy flying this beauty.

Nice shots! I do need to adjust the opacity on the cockpit windows for FSX. Several other minor issues have been noted there as well. Thanks. :salute:

Milton, the AT-11

even in beta is already a masterpiece :ernae:

LOL at that one shot Milton, that's one step away from a huge Panther!

That chrome looks fantastic, can't wait until you upload this beauty.

Awesome work
Where i can get this excellent plane?

It's a beta and not yet available. But public release is expected during the weekend (see a previous post by Milton Shupe in this thread). So sit back releax and enkoy the pictures!

Milton, please excuse this post (somewhat) as I'm not sure if I should post findings here, or by pm direct to you. I suspect a direct approach, but here goes. Future mentions will be by pm.

I notice that steering is a little difficult. It takes full rudder, down elev and diff brakes to maintain anything close to controlled steering. I've tried locking/unlocking the TW. That helps a lot better but then the response is actually worse. Can the steering properties be adjusted to make it a little more predictable so ground loop effect is reduced?

What are your realism settings like? I've been running it in FSX and FS9 and aside from getting used to the differential steering, I haven't had any real problem with steering, but my settings are only middle of the road.

Realism is set to roughly 80%. I never thought of checking that!

Oops, my realism is usually set to 80%. All sliders were at the far left..lol. All is good :kilroy:

So far she is joy in FSX and Fs9. No fps issues and i have not blown up her engines. Will try that later and work the feathering technique.

I installed the AT-11 Beta. Beautifully done on all levels! On my older system (3.0gig P4, 2gig PC3200 ram, 512meg Nvidia GeForce 7600GS video), frame rates were right where they should have been.....24.9 fps. I have my sim locked at 25FPS...and it always runs at 24.8 or 24.9 in 99.99% of my sim time. I took the Kansan up for a test flight from Alpnach in Switzerland/Sweden..one of those countries. Take off almost got me! I forgot just how well Milton sets up his flight dynamics...prop torque! Had to use differential brakes to get the plane back on the runway and straight until there was enough air flow across the rudders for them to become effective. Flight....wonderful.

I checked frame rates in all four views (tower, spot, 2D and VC) several times and they always stayed at 24.9...unless there was a bit of a system draw down due to the mesh drawing in and sharpening...but those were just micro-stutters and had nothing to do with the AT-11.

Gauges were all crisp and clear, easy to read. And all were accounted for.

The VC is sharp and the view toward the back of the plane is stunning. So much detail inside the plane...yet no impact on frame rates!

The only...and this may just be on my system...issue I had was that in VC view my control column and yoke kept blinking in and out. Will have to test again after I do some grocery shopping and reboot the system. Again, I think that the blinking control column and yoke is a system thing.

That was happening on mine also. If I twisted the stick (left rudder) the yoke would pop in and out. I change my distance from the panel to a bit closer and it stayed there a bit longer. But then it popped out once again

I'm having the same experience, but I thought it was because my little pinky kept hitting the joystick button for the / key.

There does seem to be something with the yoke - I didn't have one, then my little pinky hit the / key and it stayed visible.
'Course I was enjoying the view from the front too much to bother about that

and checking to see if the trademark prop controls were working OK...they do

...but mostly just panning around in spot view.
The fuselage skin is imperfect, and its a pleasure to see the light move.

I did notice one thing, no biggie, which comes from the D18S days: the wind sound loop stays put no matter what view, until the speed has bled off.

Lovely model

The AT-11 is a piece of art. We can all say and show as many pictures we like. But to see it for yourself in action, it's got a real wow factor

I agree 100%. . .just another masterpiece from Milton. Looks like everyone has the same "jumpy" control column, it's something Milton is working on.

Only words to describe this opus is AWSOME!!!

[Let us hope this does not put to big a hole in my pocketbook...lol It is certainly a blessing to have a computer able to handle this detailed a bird... Again... nothing short of AWSOME!]

Thanks for all the input, comments, and feedback. I am working on a long list of fixes. First of all, let's take care of that yoke issue. Also added just a touch of dihedral and slowed down the roll rate.

The replacement FM is attached. Just unzip and drop in the folder.

If you have pedals with brakes, then the ground handling should work fine. Keep in mind that all ground ops except parking positioning are with the tail wheel locked, and that taxi speed is 15knots or less.

If you do not have pedals, or prefer a steerable solution, then check the contact points section to change to a steerable tailwheel.

I hope this helps. Have fun
