BSK Malta Scenery Problems

Reply...

Ian Anstill,

Malta, despite its beauty, does have some demons that one has been able to figure out.

I really thought I had installed everything as in instructed, (BSK_Malta_v2 and the revised v.2 GSL), but clearly I have goofed something up! Hope someone could suggest something to try and fix it.

Stoney,

What does your scenery.cfg look like? Did you remember to copy all of the textures from your SCENEDB\World\Texture folder into the SCENEDB\Malta 1\Texture and SCENEDB\Malta 2\Texture folders?

Yep, I did make those copies in to the Malta folders. Here is my scenery cfg:

Hi Guys,

I installed BSK Malta V2 for my MTO theater but suffering from constant CTD.
I read some old posts here mentioned about the issue.
There is no solutions fond so far for the issue?
I followed Rami's MTO instlation guide to install all related stuffs there.

Any help will be appriciated.

Thanks!

I recall thi was an issue, resolved many years ago but I have forgotten the solution. All I can remember is that you should retrace your steps and install the Malta scenery in exactly the order and sequence Rami gives. Yes, it can be tricky.

As far as I know this problem has never been solved. I first encountered it several years ago, brought up the topic here in the forum, but nobody knew an answer.
I installed V2 in a new install on a new computer, also some years ago, but the problem is still there. And I'm sure I installed everything in the correct order.

I tried to narrow it down and found that it always occurred when flying near, or looking towards Valetta.
I'm not sure anymore, but I think I also tried to deactivate the gsl, and it still crashed.

I thought that maybe it could be one of the texture files that may be somehow corrupted and causes the sim to crash? Of course my knowledge about scenery is quite limited, so I don't know if such a thing could happen.

Just a thought

Rami uploaded Op Pedestal in 2021. This was an autoinstall, so surely includes Valetta. Maybe an install using this will eliminate the cause of the CTD?

Or Rami's earlier "Beau's in the Sand", or "Malta Spitfire" from 2016, they're both autoinstalls too...

Difficult to believe these were always causing CTD's for everybody who downloaded & tried to fly them, so maybe it's some quirk in the way you were building your MTO install...

Caveat is I've never installed these, or tried to create an MTO install (too great a temptation to tweak :p87:)

Rather than having four scenery layers for Malta, I have only three in this order:

BSK_Malta_V2 and Malta1 combined;

Malta2;

LandClassMalta.

I don't have any problems so it might be worth a try.

Guys, thank you for your ideas. I'll try them one of these days.

For now I'm still busy at Rabaul and in New Guinea, but once the current two projects are finished I plan to go to the Med and do something there.

When flying over Kalfrana seaplane base, my plane (any plane) break apart in to separate pieces, but once away from view, reforms back to how it should. What could be causing this?

It‘s the CFS2 “Malta Triangle“ in the Mediterranean sea.;)

Serious, I Never had this. But I remember when I made scenery in a scenery creator some years ago, - I added some trees as bgl objects to the scenery, everything was fine until a bomb drops within the tree’s, then my player aircraft blows up. I don’t know why, because all the trees had no DP file and theoretical can’t blow up anything and I was far enough above the trees. The idea was to fill the scenery near an airfield with trees without using the mission builder. After this experiment I gave this idea up.

To get closer to the problem

-Did anyone else have the same problem at this scenery?

-Appears it with every aircraft?

-With bombs loaded

-With torpedo loaded

-did it affect only the player aircraft or the AI aircraft also?

-did the effect show up when you fly very high over the scenery? Or only close by?

I’m not a PC specialist but something interrupt the proceccing of the aircraft within this scenery,

Mybe you can disable the scenery and fly over it to test it out.

Hi Wolfi. It always does this when I have Kalfrana in view from any aircraft, no matter what it is carrying. The moment that Kalfrana is out of view (or whatever object is triggering the issue), the issue is gone. I suspect that it could be the result of how I have the scenery library organized. Malta is one of the more complex scenery addons that I have installed for my MTO install. I had issues with it until I found the revised GSL file that I had squirreled away.

Browncoat, can you start at the Kalafrana seaplane takeoff point and take a screenshot from the water looking towards the dock infrastructure? Perhaps there is a remnant over sized object situated there.
