Should be there at Flightsim later today or maybe tomorrow:

Included in this package are two FS9 C-47 models that have been converted
from FSX models. They have the same complexity as the FSX models but the
textures are half-size only and there is some loss in resolution. There is
an "early" model, which is fitted with H aerials, and a "late" model, which
has beacon lights and curtains. The flight dynamics and VC are those of the
default DC-3 to which custom wing views and replacement VC textures have
been added. The liveries include a camouflaged RAF Dakota painted by
"Squirrel" and a white/polished-metal USAF post-war aircraft. Custom
animations by Hansjoerg Naegele, replacement VC textures by Marvin Carter,
models by Manfred Jahn. The FSX paintkit released separately (c-
47paintkit.zip at Flightsim) can be used for repainting with only few tweaks
required.

A big thank you goes to Bill Lionheart of Lionheart Creations, whose tutorial on FS9 Unlimited Export made this FSX-to-FS9 conversion possible.

Wow!! A huge thank you to you guys for doing this conversion (and to Bill for his work which made it possible).

I must confess that I have now installed FS X (I know guys, I'm sorry .....), primarily to fly your DC-3 and Bill Richardson's recently released Meteor NF14; and I have been having a lot of fun flying both, but my heart (and all of my many addons!!!) remain with FS9, so the chance to fly it in my sim of choice is greatly appreciated. And I may just have to attempt to repaint her in the "Raspberry Ripple" scheme worn by ZA947 during her time at the RAE, so watch this space .....

Oh man! Manfred!

Thank you soooooooooooo much for this gem!:jump: The best Dak/Gooney there is!:applause: Yippee! :jump:(tried the backflip but it culminated in a backdrop :isadizzy: )

Cheers,
Maarten :guinness:

Really, really nice stuff, great to see Bill's technique in practice to give us some FSX-depth models. And Andy, you HAVE to do that RAE scheme!

One can never have too many DC-3/C-47 birds:wiggle: My sadness at not getting hold of this beauty for fs9 has turned to joy. She is a real treat to fly. I may even do a panel merge to get the MAAM 2D panel hooked up with the existing vc. I did this back in fs2002 for the default so will have to sort it out once more. The result was rather pleasing.

Now of course we need a way to convert the new FSX paints from DDS to Bmp so we can enloy all the up-and-coming repaints. Is there a utility that will allow us to convert them?

Ahhh Manfred, you beat me to the punch! lol. I just started another thread about your excellent C-47 package being uploaded over at Flightsim.
Anyway... excellent work my friend! :ernae: a big THANKS is in order!!
~~~SOH admins can delete or move my thread at your disgression.
I don't know of a single utility to convert the textures...but all you should need is DXTBmp to unpack so to speak and any of the usual paint programs to decrease the texture size from the FSX format of 2048x2048 to 1024x1024 for FS9 before running it once again through DXTBmp to re-save with a DXT-3 file format.
Brilliant to see this level of collaboration in the flightsim community!
I didn't think I'd want another one of these, but having seen it, I do...very much.
Manfred, thank you for doing this in FS9.
Wouldn't it be grand to see in these colours?
