C-97G Stratofreighter Uploaded

Got my can of Never-dull out and started to polish it on my own.

OH, I can remember when I was a kid I used that stuff one weekend on my flight instructor's T-28A because he said that if I polished it he would give me a ride !

The things we would do when we where young !!! LOL

Gray Eagle,

Dave,

I have completely updated C-97G but if I want to use your two SUPER SHINY liveries, do I have to use FSX Boeing C-97 Update 2.zip ??

Aharon

I noticed that the black over the wing roots and tail section are not on the right side. Is that the way it is supposed to be?

Great work. Yes the black icing heater on tail and cabin heater coatings are on the right side (left fuselage and tail stab). Please note, that not the whole fuselage has the polished aluminium shine - only the middle sections from painted belly grey to painted white on top. All the unpainted aluminium sections of the aircraft has this shine.

Just uploaded to Sim Outhouse and Flightsim.com. Zips may need a little time to clear library admin.

FSX Boeing C-97G Stratofreighter (new) and KC-97G Stratotanker (updated). Previous installation of basepack "FSX Boeing C-97 V.1 Beta" required. This update includes the C-97G Freighter model and modifies the KC-97G Tanker model to include a cargo hold and cargo door. All intermediate patches issued so far have been integrated as well, so all you need to make the pack work is an installed V1 Beta basepack (either patched or unpatched).

Cheers,
Manfred

On all of the C-97 series I notice that on the initial startup, engines 1 and 2 will start first and then 3 and 4.
I have a video here of a real C-97 starting up and the engines to start first are on the co-pilots side then the pilots side.
That is the way I remember it as the co-pilot would be able to verify that the engines on his side did in fact start then the
pilot could so same with engines on his side of the airplane. I remember on all multi engine props that was the start sequence
and for the reasons I just stated. No big deal as we have options to start engines in any order. If you use auto start CTRL + E,
you see that it's bass ackwards; pilots engines start first then the co-pilots. No biggie, just my observations. :adoration:

A TO C-97 engine start was 3-4-2-1, but it didn't have anything to do with the pilot or copilot. The inboards had the hydraulic pumps, so inboards were always first to supply brake pressure. The right side / left side issue is part tradition and part aircraft specific. Here the crew door is on the left side, so the right side is started first, thus 3-4-2-1. The Flight Engineer started all engines on the C-97, and confirmed a good start with oil pressure and RPM, the Pilot and Copilot cleared the prop and reported if the stacks were wet. AFAIK, FSX will only start 1-2-3-4 with auto-start. I do it manually 3-4-2-1 with the monitor gauge.

First, this repaint of 45-59596 is fictitious - it was never realized. But with a real historical background. This paint sheme was discussed on the unique VC-97D in the beginning of 1960ies. More than fifty years ago.

Thanks to Aharon, who gives me the right link with the shine. This repaint is WIP.

Its fictitious, but it looks so good, that its a shame that there wasn't one painted one like this in real life..... :encouragement: :biggrin-new:

Cheers,
Huub

TiAr,

That is great and amazing repaint even though it is fictional but nevertheless, it is GREAT beautiful repaint!!

I got it. Now it possible to me to get parts of repaints very shiny or less shiny on fuselage - as I like. Now I understand for the very first time what SDK sounds. Not easy for a non english native. But at least it is quite easy. I will share infos about it here the next days.

New repaints with partly chrome shine via GlobalEnv_AC_Chrome are ready. First I used Bob Rivera´s great GlobalEnv_AC_Chrome.dds of the year 2008, which is freeware and available at flightsim.com (gloenvts.zip). But you don´t need it separately.

If you are using GlobalEnv_AC_Chrome.dds, make sure it is your texture folder of your aircraft. You can control the intension of shine with the alpha of main textures. For the belly I used white 255,255,255 RGB for the masks. If you uses GlobalEnv_AC_Chrome.dds without masking via alpha, the whole aircraft has the chrome shine.

I will upload repaints asap.

The update says.."models and modifies the (K)C-97G models to be able to use a GPU cart and a fire extinguisher bottle."

Can someone explain those features please.

thanks.

Good morning Double J:

If you have the lastest update that Manfred 'uploaded'' here at SOH (I believe dated around the end of June / first of July ), you have the capability of a 'power cart' and 'fire ext' showing up to aid in startups..

To make them appear, on the 'misc' panel of the monitor panel, put your mouse cursor over GPU and 'MIDDLE' click it and it should appear. 'LEFT / RIGHT' clicking turns it on / off but MIDDLE clicking controls the visibility of them..

Hope this helps you..

On February 2, 1962 it was sold to Israeli Aircraft Industries as 4X-AOI and converted to a freighter with rear clam shell doors and a side cargo door.
