Classics Hangar Fw190 released!

Thanks Deimos, I always try apply to unique weathering on all repaints I do. Weathering should be logical and explainable. Before I started to do the weathering on this particular repaint, I suddenly realised that weathering is often limited to some worn paint, exhaust spray and oil strains. From a colleague at work, who is visiting Scandinavia quite often, I heard that there are lot of bugs in the summer or early autumn. Therefore I made some extra dirtmarks which represent the bugs which are hit by the spinner or cowlings.

These aircrafts were the F-22 and JSFs from their time, therefore I don't believe the aircrafts were very worn. Despite the fact they were often serviced under difficult circumstances, a lot of maintenance was done on them.

Cheers,
Huub

It's the end of term here at the university where I teach -- yesterday I bid my classes farewell -- so I am feeling sentimental. But this IS a very generous group, both in creating and in explaining. Huub could have stopped at uploading the repaint and we would have already been in his debt. That being said, I haven't downloaded anyone's repaints yet ,because the originals are still keeping me very busy. I'm grateful, though, for Huub's commentary. In my own research (unrelated to aviation), I am always struggling to remind myself that "modernity" is a moving target; that what seems vintage to us was somebody else's vanguard. As Huub points out, this is more than a conceptual game; if nothing else, it would have affected how these machines looked on a day-to-day basis.

Thanks to my genious tax consultant customers from outside the EU countries now save on the VAT. That means 19% off of the list price for instance for US customers or in other words 25.17 EURO instead of 29.95EURO or 33$ instead of 39$.
Oh, and secure credit card payment is now available as an option

How do you get the non-VAT price? I'm viewing the shop from North Carolina, but I only see the price with VAT.

It's automatically forwarded to paypal or the credit card supplier based on the country you choose during your registration at the classics hangar shop, so at the very latest you see the correct price once you are on the payment provider's site before you hit the pay now button.
Still trying to figure out a way to display the no-VAT price in the shop.

ADD: You see the price without VAT when you register and login to the shop, if you register as a resident from outside the EU that is.

I don't know if this is exactly the right variant but when you do the A-8 paints I would love to see "White Eleven" included, which is my favorite. Not only do I love the color scheme, but 11 is "my number".

Definitely a scheme to consider, thanks for the suggestion!
And yes, the A-8/R8 Sturmjäger variant is on the list.

Mathias and Alx, I thought I would post this link here incase it hasn't been brought to your attention yet. The French-based Flugwerk FW 190 owned by Christophe Jacquard has made several flights so far this month, for the first time, and will be the first 190 in years, if not ever, to fly in an airshow when it appears at the La Ferte Alais air show during May 30-31, if everything goes to plan. It is also hoped to bring it to Duxford's Flying Legends in July.

I think the paint scheme just heightens the fear factor that the lines of the Fw 190 already achieve.

Thanks John, some cool shots!
Below's some shots I received the day after #2 made it's test flight at Flugwerk by early March, don't know if they have been published anywhere else so enjoy.
As you may have heard, we're working together with Flugwerk on getting their Fw190A-8/N into the simulator.

Solar Eagle, we had the best intention to paint this version as promised, but, after a lot of research, we discovered that the profile is totally wrong. It should represent the captured machine after some restoring work by Allies. Which means guns and side armour removed, scrapped paint on cowling and such. The reddish spot on the sides are probably the bolt or rivet sealing between fuselage and removed armour plates.
The plane, piloted by Gefr. Walter Wagner was hit and forced to land on 1st January 1945 (operation Bodenplatte)
There are two reasonably good photo of the downed plane on the home page of 386th AAA Battalion:

The dark color of the whole cowling and the side (maybe Grau 74) is quite evident.

Sorry. We promise to find another appealing livery.

It needs a cold and dark cockpit, all systems off.
Best to also set wind to zero knots as a stiff headwind can trigger the pilot visibility, something we yet need to adress.
BTW, what's that for a cool paint scheme? I don't think I saw that before.

Hi there-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that looks to me like essentially the standad RLM 74/75/76 paint with Hungarian markings- the badge appears to be the 102 'Ricsi' Fighter squadron, isn't it? 1944?

-Mike Z.

p.s. Looking at it closer, that squadron emblem is from the 'Puli' squadron, I'll bet...
