de Havilland DH-80 Puss Moth

Milton.

I havn't forgotten you or Damien -- We have been making sure at the Pond
that we weren't crossing any copyright laws -- now we have been assured
legally that we are ok (We are not selling the magazines OR purporting that
they are our work we can now offer them to the general public....the
problem Rob is working with now is a reference library format that will allow
people to open the magazines with Adobe and then take either the entire
issue or idividual photos and articles.

If anyone wonders -- classcbritishfiles has been offered Air Pictorial magazine issues from 1956 to the late 60s -- an excellent reference resource for modellers and painters and just plane (pun intended)interesting reading to the rest of us.
They will be offered in PDF format very shortly. There are several interesting
photo's and articles on the DH80 including a large 3 way illustration.

Sorry Milton didnt mean to Hijack the thread.:icon_lol:

Leif,

That sounds like a really nice gift and one from which the community could benefit. I look forward to the overall content.

BTW, I will be making the gmax source available to the Classic British sites when completed. It may be used or enhanced for any freeware purposes.

I believe this wing strut mounted ASI is from a Leopard Moth, but not sure.

Can anyone say whether this is the same for a Puss Moth, or have a picture of the correct one?

Also, does anyone have a picture of the wing mounted fuel tank indicator?

Also looking for a better detailed pictures of these controls in the dh-80 Puss Moth. Any help greatly appreciated.

I got started on the VC this weekend. This is usually a slow process for me due to lack of good reference material and dimensions of parts but there is progress.

And, Damian has started on the textures / templates. :)

Museums reported to have a Puss Moth

http://www.nms.ac.uk/flight/

The National Aviation Museum of Canada
Canada Aviation Museum
11 Aviation Parkway
Ottawa, Ontario
K1K 4R3

Museum of Flight East Fortune (Scotland)

Does anyone live near one of these museums, or any museums that may have one that may be available to get some interior pictures?

Well, I have had no further luck on finding better detailed interior pictures so I proceed on what can be done for now. Windrunner has started the basic texture layers on the fuselage.

If anyone can provide interior details requested on the above 4 posts, that would be immensely appreciated.

Attachment just an early work-in-process.

Hello Mr. Schupe. Beautiful workmanship. I didn't have much luck tracing interior pictures. I did however find a few exterior shots that haven't been shared. (I think)

Oleboy and bpfowler,

Thanks for those pictures. One can never have enough reference pictures for modeling.

I am still grinding out parts in the VC and interior model as Windrunner is getting the basic layers of the fuselage texture built.

There is still hope that someone will uncover pictures or diagrams of the interior as I struggle along with what I have. Artistic license at work. :)

Meanwhile some screenies from gmax (wirelit) and FSX (port over testing).

Thank you Ed and Nigel. We will do the best we can and I expect when the details are done, the fabric will be a sight to behold knowing Damian. :jump:

Of course, this is a freeware offering but I hope you can enjoy it for many low and slow hours.

I am planning my Croydon to St. Malo flight even now. From there, I jsut dont know where the wind will take me.

Bill

Thanks Bill and Flyboy. I love to do inspiring aircraft and this ole girl has quite a history too.

We are most fortunate now to be getting some assistance with interior and other pictures from our friends across the pond who have access to a museum piece. Hopefully, this will provide the necessary insight for interior detail. :applause:

For now ... we wait.

And for the record, Fliger_747 will be doing the flight model, Damian Radice the textures, and Scott Thomas the gauges. Yes, there will be a paint kit and hopefully some willing texture artists.

OT: Other in-progress birds for late '09, early next year are the xp47j and AT-11.
