Douglas A20 Havoc

Not all aircraft are pristine looking. Just thought it would be nice to have a plane that has worked extra hard, under hectic conditions.

These are all very much WIP but I'll find all you non painting but flying the G model a set of beta clothes for the weekend.

These are all early WIP shots red 15 (post 637) will look a bit more battered by the time it's done. It was badly damaged by flak, crash landed back at base when its under carriage failed too lower, bent its nose. 6 days later it was back in service with a nose, bomb bay doors and bits taken from other wrecks, rudder replaced and a quick re spray of the underneath.

The paint kits come with weathering layers - so that folks who paint the model(s) can turn those on or off, or add more as they wish. :)

Additionally, and to my knowledge, most of the images I have seen posted are all works in progress, including my own. Though my liveries are completed they need to be updated by adding them to the current kits. They have not been posted at dropbox, or elsewhere, for public consumption but will be when the completed models are released for general community use.
 
The photo here shows the current state of the weathering layers on the C Model. They are the same for all four models. For Steve, Papi, Huub, and others painting the A-20/P70 series I have included a link to a dropbox upload of the engines templates covering all four models (the P70A1 also works for the P70A2) and the fuselage templates for the C and P70A1. Additional weathering and a more accurate color for the prop hubs and spinners. The fuselage templates correct a minor alignment issue on the right side of the nose framing.If you have trouble getting to them send me a pm and I will get them to you in another manner.

I got them too Wellis. Couldn't open them with PSP7, but I tried to convert the A-20G engines with Gimp. I now have 17 layers. Is that the amount I should have?

You will be missing at least 11 layers if you have just converted in gimp to get around the old 565 error message. I'll have a conversion session tomorow and get the layers sorted on the new engines textures.

Huub, I know very little about gimp, but only 17 layers would mean many CS6 layers have been condensed, possibly detrimentally. The engine templates have fewer layers than the fuselage, but quite a few more layers than 17. 17 layers sound more like the number of folders in CS6 that contain the layers for the various categories (rivets, shading, panel lines, etc).

It seems Steve has had better luck, but pm me and I'll see what I can help you with. I have gimp installed on my machine (just recently) but have not done anything with it because of my familiarity with Photoshop. You have my personal email, you could send me your gimp template and I can look at it with an eye toward figuring out how what I have done converts and what I might could do in the future to help... like fewer layers I'd guess would be a start :)

In the meantime I will load up my old copy of PSP7 and take a look at what Steve has done (if I can remember how to use it:dizzy:).
