Downloading now

In the meantime the flight planner is available off-line (you don't need to have even ordered MSFS24 let alone installed it) and some of the offline manuals have been updated (iniBuilds Buses and the Twotter).
I'm waiting until tomorrow to decide which version (if any...) to buy.

I got to 97% on PC & Xbox with the unusally long loading message. I gave up after it hung for +10 mins on both at that point.

Just not good enough...

The server resources at Microsoft's disposal and MSFS is not as big as COD

XBOX app required a 5 min preload.
Then pushed play. All the preview shots repeated during download.
Six min to 15%.
After 19%, a long wait then suddenly went to 77% then 99% in 35'. Installed.
Now to figure out the settings.

I have to work with M$ people every single day at work. When an M$ employee assures you that things will go smoothly, watch out.

They knew full well that this would happen, but they just allocate the resources to corporate stuff because it's a lot more profitable. But even the corporate customers are getting effed over. Excuse my French.

I'll wait. Better for my heart and nerves.

I don't actually care. My goal was to just get the base install downloaded. It is still stuck on 97% but the way it got to 97% makes me think maybe it is only at 50% and working.

I don't see mention of which route you guys are using. MS direct vs Steam. I'm wondering if there is a difference. I'm still about an hour from home before I can start the install adventure.

Yep, stuck in the queue here.

Actually got it up and running on my Asus ROG Ally handheld (surprisingly smooth frame rates if you set the detail to "Potato"!) so I got encouraged to shut it down and try it on my gaming PC. Bad idea, now stuck in the queue.

Gonna do other things and hopefully it'll be working tonight or tomorrow.

The low-res flight on the ROG Ally was fun, at least!

I got the basic game downloaded and activated with no problem. However when I try to download the Deluxe version, all I get is a circle arrow for a couple seconds, then nothing.

I managed to get one flight in around the local area. They finally got the land mass in the Gulf of Mexico below New Iberia correct. There were a LOT more trees and it looked very real. When I tried again a short while later all I got was "too many people on line" screen.

Also the fan in the computer ran at high speeds. Never did that in 2020.

The Steam install base took exactly 5 minutes. Once the MSFS screen came up and I got signed into XBox again, I now have a screen that says "Too Many Users Trying To Connect At The Same Time. You are in a queue. Please wait a few minutes or try again later."

Going to leave it running and see what happens.

After getting stuck in the queue for 1/2 hr, I shut it down and went and did something else. Have to use ctrl+alt+del task monitor to stop it. Did a restart about an hour later, stuck on screen and 0% (language) dwnld for about 10min. Went to let cat in, and grab a soda. By the time I got back, it was loaded and waiting on me. Have my X-56 and TM rudder pedals hooked up. Loaded a free-flight. The Optica at my local airport, Marshalltown, Iowa, KMIW. Did not check control settings, wanted to see what the defaults are. Bad idea. Got the engine started, and PB released, but could not taxi. Couldn't remove the chocks! neither with the checklist nor manually. Gave up and ended flight. Going to be a learning curve here, for me.

I walked away from it this afternoon and just got back to it. Still on 97% :D

Going to shut it down and go back to working on the plumbing. More parts came in today.
