Downloading now

I spent about an hour in the sim this evening, but mainly just fiddled with all of the settings and did a couple quick flights around my area (no CTDs). I am very glad to see that they're apparently using new and better water masking data, as all of the issues that were always present in MSFS 2020 with the Mississippi River near my house (large swaths of the river not depicted as water) are now fixed - the water masking itself also appears better. I think I'll wait until the weekend to spend the time required to setup all of the control bindings, at which point I might be able to begin enjoying the sim.
 
I cant get any of my logitech 3d extreme setting to match fs2020 let alone the Keyboard G key work for gears up and down lol. Wish theyd offer a MSFS2020 profile for controls and settings.
 
Stuck for three hours at 97%, aborted the download at bedtime. :)
Started again this morning and it took me to what I believe is the normal startup procedure.
Was able to start a flight at my homebase but not able to take off. No aircraft sounds and some objects like certain trees and buildings are not rendered correctly.
 
How on earth do I get into the plane when I start on a parking spot???

I left it running all night. Got up at my normal 3AM and it was sort of done. Managed to get in the Cessna, after waiting a long time after hitting fly. Then while sitting in the aircraft I tried to configure my X-52. It knew it was there, but it would let me program anything. Took off with the keyboard, while the whole time still waiting for the scenery to fully load. I have refund request in with Steam. If they accept it great, if not, oh well. At this point I'm not sure if I'm even going to reload 2020. I'm pretty irritated, that may wear off. :)

I may come back to 2024 if it looks like there's better luck getting it to do anything logical.

Finally got it installed and running after getting home from work today. Logitech Yoke System and Pedals working fine, but they've changed the keyboard camera commands so here we go again...
 
It was still nice being part of the crash. What I think is kind of dumb is you can't even get into the user interface with out connecting to the server. Seems smarter to allow access to the interface and then connect to the server when you go fly.
 
Well, after going to work this AM, I managed to cool down a bit. Going to hang in there a bit longer. Reading all the different forums, it doesn't sound like they've made things much better. Maybe a tiny bit???

I'm actually on the very patient side. But when looking at a deadline for being able to get a refund for $130 vs this current mess Asobo made for us, the patience scaling needs to be adjusted a bit. I'm past that deadline now so I'm hoping it gets straightened out. I still have my doubts about whether the streaming everything is going to work in the long run.

Mine is installed now, the basics. Tomorrow I'll download the marketplace stuff to my harddrive. There is an option for that in there. At least they have their server issues solved.

After failure the first night, I tried again last night and success. While the marketplace is not up yet I do see all the aircraft i purchased in the marketplace in the list of aircraft. Now hope there is a way to import my keyboard/device settings from 2020 into 2024 as they all seem different and when i configured a couple keys for one plane they were reset when I did another, do we have to configure they keys for every aircraft?
 
If you'd like to use the MSFS2020 keyboard commands in MSFS2024, they can be selected in the Keyboard presets config outlined in red below:
Click the gear icon on the right of each window and select SET AS DEFAULT.
