F7F Tigercat SOH Project

hubba-hubba Milton! what a good looker.....

I got next to the F7F at Historic Flight two weekends past. It's in perfect flying condition, and painted like a navyblue show-car. My overall impression: it's a HUGE plane. Got a couple snaps, but theyre mostly rivet pattern close ups.:)

Thanks bp ... some of the painters may be interested in that ...

There was one on Vancouver Island for refurb last year or longer ... Eric P. sent some pics of it. Beautifully redone.

Oh, yeah, that reminds me. F7F's, except for the night fighters, left the factory with a very glossy sea blue paint scheme. I know Helldiver will back me up on this issue. Please don't make the day fighters dull or matted, they need to have high gloss paint.

Moving ahead on the port side nacelle ... just getting the basic shape here ... hope to complete the nacelles, main gear doors, and main gear this weekend.

You're a fast worker Milton...lookin' great and what a super project to follow up the SOH A26:ernae:

Thank you for the comments. :wiggle: I have been on this since 5AM and it is easy to make progress when things are going well with no interruptions. :)

Working on cowl flaps and engine exhaust ports now.

EDIT: Cowl flaps done and animated; exhaust ports done

Milton:

Very nice progress! Thanks for all of the hard work on this project, looks to be extremely well recieved!

Best regards: Tom

Thank you, also to Barfly (yes, a very nice article), and Fliger.

This morning, we now have the basic engine, cowl flaps, nacelle and gear doors done and animated. It is amazing how these components are so interesting and challenging to do, but shaping up well and I am looking forward to getting on with the main gear.

As is usually the case with people of talent, you make the very difficult look very easy. Great job Milton.:salute:

Looks great, Milton. You have "the touch" when it comes to modelling. The "Grizzly" is proof of that, along with your other spectacular works.

Another productive day focusing mainly on the engine, cowl flaps, exhaust headers, nacelle, and main gear. Still quite a bit to do here before moving on.
