F7F Tigercat SOH Project

Moses03... your prop blur works pretty darn good with those animation settings, IMHO. Nice work mate.:ernae:

Just checked the model mapping; for both engines, the cowlflaps are mapped as part of the left engine nacelle. So whatever you paint the left cowl flaps will carry to the right side. The engine cowlings and nacelles are however on their own maps.

Keep in mind that when I did a quickie mapping on this aircraft, it was so that Fliger747 could view everything in FSX. There was no intention to release it. :)
Ok, here are the three textures for the engines and fuselage/wings/etc.:

. . . .and two more shots:
One from FSRepaint showing them closed
One from the Sim showing them open

I think what I'm seeing is a difference in color based on shadowing and not actually a different color.:salute:

Goodgahds....this plane has an absolutely evil stall. LoL....5300 ft to recover, repleat with spins....EEeeeeeee!!!! I didn't think flightsim could trigger motion sickness.

Beautiful work in progress Milton and crew, and particular compliments for the flight model. It certainly puts you in the pilot's chair, rewards and penalties all accounted for, by the book. What allure, all sweet, stable, high performance, and then the bottom falls out. What a ride!!

I love it!!!

Thank-you!!

:::LOL:: yeahh.. I noticed that myself.. absolutely ingenius work done there.. FSX normaly diest do stalls well withut some other very negative sideeffects elsewhere.. He did an awesome job..

Tom has been working on that FM, and then refining it over the last 6 months. I guess he has it about where he wants it. :applause:

Yep, the spin I put it into nearly made me nauseous as well. I was able to recover using standard procedure of closing the throttle, neutral aileron and elevator, opposite direction rudder.

Okay, for you nite flyers, I noticed that I left an outdated gauge backlighting texture for the lower console in the package. Here is a replacement. Just unzip and put a copy of the vc02_L.bmp in each of your texture folders. Overwrite when asked.

Err... That be me. Thanks Milton. :wavey:

One other Variation. . .some texture problems though that may not be fixable as you can see around the intakes. . . .

Ah, another awesome paint scheme Falcon. Yes, those are mapping errors that were not an issue for the intent of the mapping (a one-textured aircraft that could be used in FSX for testing). Sorry about that. :-/

Model Update for Wing Maps

I have tried to correct the wing mapping issue you show there Falcon. Would you try this model.

Hi,

[fltsim.0]

title=F7F-3S Unfinished
sim=f7f-300
panel=soh
model=F7F-300
sound=
texture=300
kb_checklists=
kb_reference=
atc_id_enable=1
atc_id=
ui_manufacturer=MILTON_TIGERCAT
ui_type=F7F-3 Unfinished
ui_variation=F7F-300
prop_anim_ratio=1.025
visual_damage=1
Description=F7F-3 Single Seat Fighter w/tank
atc_heavy=0
atc_airline=Military
atc_flight_number=
atc_id_color=0x00000000
atc_id_font=Verdana,-11,1,600,0

The location is not important (up or down)
The important is to have it in each fltsim entries ....
You can play with the number 1.025 :)

Will that prop animation entry work for FSX, too?

FS2002 Version - CFS2 Version

I have spent the last 4 days converting the F7F-3 WIP to FS2002 and I am uploading that now (to the FS9 Add-Ons category; can't find the FS8 category).

The F7F-3 WIP has also been converted to CFS2 for interested parties by SC7500. You will find that in the CFS2/Aircraft category.

Milton, as always, striving to ensure perfection, lol. Yes, that did correct the wing mapping problem. As you can see, I went with a solid rather than the two-tone and that is because as I was going along, other mapping problems surfaced. The tight proximity of wings to other control surfaces and the fuselage was causing overlapping of colors. With a one color scheme it's not a problem, but with more than one, it is.

This was a quickie idea, to see what I could come up with for the RTW. It's not really needed and a single color, with a nice gloss paint applied will suffice I'm sure. Thank you for taking the time to make those changes though. . . .we must remember. . .this is a WIP, lol.
