Am I the only one who thinks the external textures are quite disappointing ?
It gives me more the feeling of an FS9/FSX aircraft ;(

The interior looks super nice though, and it seems the realism level is going to be quite interesting as well. But that exterior...

I'm just the opposite. The exterior is OK, not great, but OK. The interior looks like "my first 3D drawing" attempt for FSX. But hey, it's 10 bucks. The old Captain Sim 707 for FSX seems more authentic to my eyes.

Well, if anything, it's a VAST improvement over the old, 2020 dumpster-fire version. It's got some nice systems and options, I think some texture artists over at fs.to might work some magic on it, and it's free for me, so I can't complain. Nice surprise.

Difficult to tell from one screenshot, but I definitely see what you mean. I'm looking forward to the Youtube reviews, because a decent 707 would be very welcome in MSFS2024.

Thanks for the video above. It seems the exterior model is very nice as well. Maybe it's just the way they painted the aluminium that I don't like, because I can clearly see that the "normal" painted areas are very well painted/textured. And the 3D details are kind of amazing, I have to say...

Flying it is great so far, MUCH improved on that other one....
The textures I don't know...I've looked at them through the VFS hoping to convert my BOAC livery and they are looking very dubious...probably need to repaint in 3D using substance painter?

Yeah, I'm working on a fictional livery, and I'm finding that the comp files are pretty good guides. We'll see if that works with my limited skills. The regular albedo textures are dependent on livery-specific model configs for the decals; and, of course, those are encrypted.

Oh, well, I'll keep struggling and trust the painters who actually know what they're doing to hit us with some great, real-world liveries.

Revisiting this morning. Low sun angle reveals exterior textures. Some of the Pan Am logo lettering has pealed away on the wings - nice touch. Maybe my graphics settings were off, but today the interior looks much better. Or, I need to back off the wine.

I was wondering! I gave the Alaska version a quick flight last night and was really impressed by the visual and system detail.

Bought it. Given all the approving noises at Avsim, and a price of £9.39, which won't get you two pints in Dirty Dicks in London, I couldn't turn it down. Now all I need is a nice BOAC livery, and I can relive my childhood journey from Singapore to Darwin and Sydney.

With the installation of the 707, I'm getting CDT's again when attempting to change liveries. Kicks me clean out of the sim. Thought MS fixed this with the last update.

I haven't seen that issue in many months. You don't have any old liveries around for the FS2020 707, do you? (Trying to think what's wrong.)

I love it! I don't really fly heavies much but I love the old school ones like this and 727.

Nope. All was fine before I added the 707. CDT on every 707 livery change attempt now. Quite annoying. I may try a delete and reinstall of it.

That's strange, DVJ.. I'm having similar issues. Out of seven attempts only the first one was successful. The sim crashes, CTD even with a clean Comm folder. Chose another AC and no problem. Not sure what the issue is.. The very first flight I chose Alaska Air with GTN 730. Loaded and flew fine with the exception that couldn't change the Nav 1 freq on the GTN head. It wouldn't even swap or change freq.. Finished flight wanted to try with another package and have been unsuccessful ever since. When the plane did load up that one time, I flew for about an hour and it worked fine other than I didn't see the spoilers activate upon landing when I enabled them. I'll keep trying to see if there are any other circumstances to clear the 707 for TO.

I had the same problem with a CTD and livery change last night, but only once. After restarting the sim in Steam, all was fine.

Its an old airplane. You must expect "old" airplanes to look old. Maybe even FS9 old. I mean, I'm a 47 model. I don't look as young and cool as say a 97 model. So, a 707 model doesn't look like a 787 model.
