Flaps causing overstress crash on Razbam Banshees

All of a sudden this thread goes quiet.

OBIO, any progress on those panel updates? Sounded like you were close to releasing them.

Just curious.

Getting there with the panel tweaks.....moving gauges about in the VC is a trial and error affair...I wish there were a visual program for VC gauges like there is for the 2D panel gauges....would make VC work so much easier and faster. Will work on them more this evening and get them done soonish.

I did take a small side detour on another project...which delayed the Banshee work a bit. But have no fear...it shall get done...and other projects as well (Swingman's Grumman Ducks with new MDL files and enhanced texture mapping and a real prop blur, the restoration of the Alphasim F-105s). There was an issue someplace in my ability to do uploads.....it is now fixed!

Also have the tweaked FDE for the freeware CLS Piper PA-28 Arrow 3 or 4 or what ever it is...and the reworked panel set up as well...just a bit of work on it and that will be ready to share.

Glad to see you're making some progress with the -105s. My time in the AF was spent around F-4s and F-15s, however, we did periodically have F-105s from George AFB visit Luke AFB Transient Alert on cross-countries. I remember the 561st TFS in particular.

On the 105 project, I have 2 more skins to do, then make sure everything in the config files is set up properly, gather all the gauges and effects, package it all up and BOOM BANG upload it.

The 105 looks amazing with more realistic aluminum skin work....with a bit of dirt and grime...than it did in the original chrome like skins. And the SEA camo skins are really nice....thanks to Frank (FSFranek or something like that.....his is one of those user names I can never fully remember) who gave me the proper RGB codes for the SEA colors.

The -2 and -2N VC work is done. Next will be the -2P, then the -3 and finally the -4. Then I have to break the -3 into two separate planes....one with the tip tanks and one without the tip tanks so that each variant can have lights configured to fit the plane.

Onward and Upward. To infidelity and beyond. No...that just doesn't seem right for some reason LOL!

A situation like this, and your solution for it, calls for borrowing the motto of the Royal Air Force (which I have abrogated to myself as well for personal reasons) - "Per Ardua Ad Astra" - through trials, or difficulties, to the heavens. :salute:

I was told once by someone who should know (RAF brat) it meant "I've got mine, what about you?" Of course, this is cleaned up considerably!

The -2P is done! Now onto the -3. This one will take a while as I have to separate the wing tip and the non-wing tip models into their own folders. Well, not really "a while" as doing the separation work is a breeze...once I get the VC gauges in place it's all down hill from there.

THE PANEL WORK IS DONE! And I did not have to divide the -3 package. There is a -3 for the Royal Canadian Navy with wing tip tanks in the -4 package. Not sure if it is supposed to be a -3 or a -4...so I renamed it to -3A. But all the VC gauges are pretty much lined up with the gauges painted onto the panels. Not perfectly lined up...but 98.75% so. I could keep tweaking to get them all lined up perfectly...but that would just make me look like an obsessive compulsive type person....and I am clearly an attention deficient type person.

Now, I have to do a fresh install of the Banshee packages into a dummy folder so I can make sure which planes were aliased to which planes in terms of panel usage. I know that the -3 was originally aliased to the -4 and that either the -2N or -2P was aliased to the -2 while the other (either the -2N or -2P) was aliased to the -4.

Once I have that squared away, I will begin writing up the rather detailed read me file and instructions on how to set up the panels as I have them. Each variant now has a fully panel folder that is tweaked to fit that variant. There will be a bit of copy and pasting to be done prior to the installation of the revised panel and aircraft config files.

Then I have to do up a set of aircraft config files for each variant using stock lights for those who do not have the Shockwave 3D lights package. I have all the variants set up to use the Shockwave lights currently.

Once done, I will only be uploaded the needed panel.cfg files, the needed aircraft.cfg files, the effects gauges I used and the effects (not the Shockwave gauges or effects).

Give me a day or two to get all that done and to have the package ready for uploading. Maybe 3 days...depending on how much stuff my wife cooks up for me to do around the house...and how much stuff my sis-in-law cooks up for me to do around her house. So, someplace between 2 days and 36 years...

OBIO

For those who have not grabbed them yet...there are fixed air files for the Banshees over on the Razbamsims forums under the Banshee forum. These air files are for the -2, -3 and -4 Banshees and fix the aircraft overstress issue when flaps are deployed.

The rather detailed READ ME file is done. Now I just need to package up the improved panel config files, the revamped aircraft.cfg files, modify the aircraft.cfg files for those without the Shockwave lights, package up the effects and effects gauges. Zip it all up and upload.

That will be tomorrow....after I build a decorative head board canopy thing for our bedroom, give it a good sanding and first coat of stain, do some organizing and cleaning in the garage and basement, and list some items on Craigslist for my sister-in-law...and what ever else comes up tomorrow.
