Fleet Aircraft Fleet 50K

Interesting comments Sir. I have always had a fancy for deHavilland aircraft personally from the dhc2 to the dhc7. Always wanted to build the dhc4 and dhc5 but others beat me to them. Got lots of sim hours in the Beaver, Otters, and Dash 7, and flew in the dhc4 in VietNam.

Happy to oblige with the Fleet 50K, an interesting aircraft indeed but needed a little more power, apparently a little ahead of soon-to-be-available engines.

I have gotten the cabin support infrastructure in place today and now ready to start the VC. Good times :running:

Fleet 50K Panel and Gauges

I am attaching the only pictures of the panel and gauges and interior I can find. If anyone has other sources, I would appreciate your contributions.

If anyone can help with gauge identification on these screenshots, I would greatly appreciate that help too.

I will populate with gauges out of my Spartan Executive or default once identified.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

EDIT: Since detailed info is scarce, can anyone validate the ECU as having two throttle, mixture, and prop levers. Those props look fixed to me. And if that is the case, can you help identify what all the ecu levers are for?

I am sensing minimal interest in this aircraft project, and that's okay. I don't mind as I wanted to do this for a friend and for the tutorial.

Also thought it might be a good exercise to put something out here to see if members would be willing to paint it, add sounds, improve the panel, and have a little fun with it.

The FM is being worked on by James Banks who assisted with some of the last Avia aircraft projects.

Here are some shots representing the current state. I have few minor things left in the VC and the props to replace and she should be ready, possibly by next weekend.

This is one of the lovely little projects that seem to slip by un-noticed. The plane is absolutely overflowing with potential.
I'd be happy to do the paint on this one if you are interested.

Not down here , I for one am looking forward to this cutie. :jump:

Looks to be a fun little bush pilots cargo hauler.

Well done Milton. :applause:

Pete.

First draft of the flight model will be in the pipes to you pretty soon Milton. Once all the numbers were in, it seems she was a pretty conventional and pleasant flyer without much vice.....except maybe the power to weight ratio.....

Virtual pilots will certainly find the "one engine out" scenario most entertaining.

Of course....there's always the reset-flight button.

One of a Kind

I think interest in an aircraft this distinctive will build once it's released. I sense the maximum payload, one engine out procedure is to wear a parachute!

LOL I look forward to that Sir :)

Built for the canadian "outback" but certainly a great utility hauler for anywhere.

I assume you all want some cargo in the back?

Here's a shot of the internal infrastructure from the outside.

Thank you Sir :) You bet I am interested. Will package up some "stuff" for you and send PM.

Will also be posting this WIP as soon as its ready for anyone else who wants to jump into it for paint, sounds, panel/gauge updates (using default gauges now), effects, whatever.

The "final" package will include the gmax source and UVW mapping templates folder.

I'd just like to add; Virtual pilots will enjoy the view from the flightdeck. It's a visual wrap-around to ninety with almost nothing in front of you. Sort of like an old Volkswagen Van. Sort of the same power to weight ratio too.

What Pete said.

I dug through my library when you first posted the project hoping to find some cockpit reference material but all I had was a couple of pages in Molson's Canadian Aircraft Since 1909.

Looking forward to what the community pulls together with the Fleet.

LOL I've cleaned up the cockpit a bit since your version and have a few more things to add before the VC is ready. Will likely add some cargo as well if that's what folks want.

Yes, reference materials are scarce but Magoo and Hurricane72 seems to have found some extra tidbits at the museum which has been very helpful. Great people there. :)

Modeling and Texture Mapping Completed

... Flight model and textures are in progress thanks to Magoo and gman5250, respectively. She is turning out to be quite the Bush flyer too.

Doing some initial testing here in FSX to see what changes might need to be made. So far, so good. :)

Of course, all textures are temporary at this time. :) LOL

Looks like an interesting airplane; one I'd be proud to add to my collection!

The Cargo texture looks great; would love to see one with metal drums, perhaps.

May I put in a plug for an American registered version; one operating from MN or WI that might have been purchased in Canada? :p

Keep up the good work, and we all thank you and the 'team' for your efforts, Milton!

The floater looks kinda sexy! Be kinda tricky to load! But who's loadin, I'm sight seeing!

Steve

Thank you for your interest and comments. Gman5250 and Magoo are doing some serious magic on this project. I think you will like flittering away time in the mountains and back country in this sweet hand flyer. Landing and take off in those tight spots are a breeze if you understand her.

gman5250 just sent a rough draft, first cut on the CF-BJT textures and you can see, she is going to be sweet. :jump: Now as he gets down to the details of the artwork, I can shed my suit of many colors; thank you very much. :wiggle:

What an interesting and, at least IMHO, beautiful airplane! A BIG thank you to you, Milton, and to Magoo and gman5250 for all of your hard work. I'm looking forward to taking her for a spin. Any plans to put some Alaskan clothes on her? I spend a lot of time flying out of and in to my home's many airports.

Thank you Sir. Since I do not paint, I'll leave the question for gman5250 or re-painters who will enjoy gman5250's ground work to enhance their efforts.

There were 5 original reg numbers and paint schemes; not sure how many of them he will do but the possibilities are endless for anyone wanting to jump in once gman5250 completes his work. I encourage anyone interested in repaints, sounds, or enhanced panel work to feel free to give her a go. This is, after all, about having fun here. :jump:

The Fleet is a fascinating subject and the model looks superb inside and out. Great work by all involved.
