Flight Réplicas Douglas Dc-4 and B-24 free Released

@FlakNine Once again, many thanks to you, and everyone else who's involved. I wonder if Flight Replica's Halifax & Halton package might receive the same treatment at some point in the future - any thoughts ?
I'd be interested in doing that one day - I would first need to reach out to somebody at Flight Replicas to get their blessing.

We've got more to do on the B-24 first though. But a Halifax is tempting! I didn't know anything about the Halton until now but that would be pretty cool too.

Yes, the B-24 is progressing beautifully. A great addition to the sim.

I recently downloaded & flew this mod/aircraft again after initially flying it's original release, what a massive difference has been achieved since the beginning. I'm not a huge flier of large aircraft but I do like the Liberator due to it's Aussie history, we have one being restored to running condition just an hour down the road, there's a jankees repaint for this plane of that actual airframe. I fly VR & this plane is very good, better than a lot of payware for it's immersion factor. I have noticed a small model issue on the inner left prop hub when engines are running where there is a gap between the spinner & the propeller hub, I have not taken notice whether it's there when the engine is shut down. It's been there since it's release even before the mod. Not a deal breaker by any means but it is there. The engine start up effects are the best I have seen on this sim, all that's missing is the smell of oil & some flame belches... Keep up the fantastic work team! Love it!

Thanks so much! I was looking at that restoration website a few weeks ago, restoration projects like this are so cool.

I'd been meaning to look at the gap in the prop since I'd noticed it myself - your post prompted me to investigate and I think I found the cause - the mesh used for the "blurred" prop hub is located too far aft, meaning a gap opens up at the front. I'm assuming it'll be a simple fix for me to nudge it forwards again - it's on the list for V20!

Great plane, I fly it a lot :)
One thing that troubles me is the ASI, calibrated to 700 MPH...
Given the Lib tops out at 220-odd and all the photos I've found on-line are calibrated to 250 MPH, I've kludged my copy to have a maximum of 300 MPH with double the resolution which makes speed control in the circuit and landing easier.
It's just a tiny change to the XML and a retexture of the gauge face ... maybe a thought for V20?

The reason it goes to 700 is that for efficient wartime production. The instrument supplier just made one model of ASI. It didn't matter if it was on a B-24, B-29 Stearman or a P-51. I'm pretty sure the non mach meter ASI on the X-1 was the same ASI...

While hunting around for reference material I stumbled across this pretty awesome video. While there are plenty of detailed written procedures it’s really interesting to actually see the startup, take off and landing procedures in operation, and in such detail.

You’ll need a spare hour but it’s definitely worth a watch if you are interested in flying the B24!

I know this thread is mostly B-24 stuff but I'll throw out some dc-4 stuff and see what sticks. The original FR DC-4 had 3 different cockpits. The one we had converted now and then a more modern one for the tankers. And a separate also modern one on the Carvairs. I don't know if Flight Replicas would allow the more modern cockpit to be converted too or not. But it would be nice to have a modern dg (Maybe even an HSI???), VOR's, autopilot and GPS capability.
