FS2004 Screenshots Here!!!

Most likely we all have a to do list, with things we have to make, to install or in my case to paint. The Aeroplane Heaven early Spitfire Mk.I is on of them. It comes from the early Spitfire set, which is volume 1 of 3. And the 3 sets cover the history of one of the most iconic fighters of WWII. The set is 16 years old and shows his age. Better looking models have arrived like the A2A Spitfire Mk.Ia, the RealAir Spitfire Mk.XIV and the Plane Design Spitfire Mk.XVI, and there are even a few freeware models which have at least similar quality.

But the early Spitfire M.I is still the best two bladed Mk.I for FS9 around. The model is pretty decent, however I didn't really like the original textures (Sorry Bazz). And now after some frustrating evenings with a Gloster Gaunlet I decided it was finally time to do this repaint. Aeroplane Heaven models from this period are not always very friendly for the repainters, and this Spitfire is no exception to this rule. So I already ran in some problems which can't really be solved. But so far I'm pleased with the result. Still a long way to go.

....

Good evening Huub, really interesting project. Very nice texture work.

Cheers,

Frederic

Thanks for the kind words Frederic, the AH Spitfire was a pain to paint. I let it rest for a few days, to see whether I'm still satisfied after a few days. Some weathering and shading things I normally do aren't possible due to the texture layout. I have finished 4 liveries, from which mainly the lower surfaces are different.

For there RealAir Spitfire, apart from the registration codes and switching on and off the right layers, there isn't much I did on this repaint. It is mainly the RealAir paintkit they released for the FSX model.

322 Dutch squadron flew the mighty Mk.XIV Spitfire only for a short period. The Mk.XIV arrived in March 1944 to replace the Mk.Vb Spitfire. And by August the XIV Spitfires were already handed in again, to be replaced with the Mk.XVI Spitfire (The Mk.IX Spitfire with the American Packard engines). From August 1944, 322 Squadron was mainly involved in ground attack missions and most losses were caused by ground fire.

F/O Burgwal was shot over Le Genest-Saint Isle, Mayenne, France after escorting Lancasters on a mission on Orleans. F/O Rudolph Frans Burgwal was initially buried at the Saint-Isle Communal Cemetery, but was reburied on the Dutch field of honour in Orry-La Ville near Senlis.

I have reinstalled the V1 bombs AI traffic by Michel "Michaelblackbird" Merle to give me something to chase in the sim!

Hey Huub, y'know Daniel Dunn made a flyable V1?

Pete,

The one in the screenshot is the one done by Samantha Downes from TLUK design, which I think is the same you are referring to. It is used as AI in Michel Merle's AI traffic.

For a moment I though you were referring to a Fieseler Fi103R Reichenberg, but I don't think this was ever done for FS2004.

Huub

Yes, that's the one TLUK was Daniel Dunn's cover.

Diver!

The V1 is small, but once spotted the speed of the Spitfire is superior.

This is not as simple as it looks!

Morning Pete,

As I mentioned before I have been fiddling with my install to much to remember what I exactly did, but I'm pretty sure the clouds are from the "High Definition Environment V2.0" package by Pablo Diaz. This package is available at Flightsim.com (hdev2.zip).

Man I wish I could get my sky and clouds to look like yours. I fiddle with it all the time and never get close to yours. Did you ever post what you did to get it looking right?

Sean,

Check out this thread and the video in it: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php/118230-How-to-get-FS9-nearly-perfect

And I do have a high end computer, so FS2004 can be run with all sliders at full !

Found it Pete! Thanks! Great stuff :encouragement:

Man, Wombat, those shots almost got me to reinstall FS9! And quite frankly, the thought of being able to fly the Cloud9 Phantom again makes me drool! ;)

Are you using shaders of any kind?

Cheers,

Priller/Jan

No shaders that I recall Jan, but I do have a very mixed selection of clouds, weather, lighting and environmental additions.
:encouragement:

Well said and don't overlook FSUIPC weather parameters with regards to sky & clouds....I believe Full environment 9 (could also be Envtex) from Toga Projects has suggested parameters for FSUIPC in addition to suggested FS9.cfg parameters - play with those...it might make a difference!
